About This Position
Seeking a Detail-oriented and motivated Machinist 1 to join our Team. In this role, you will assist in operating and maintaining CNC Machines to produce high quality precision parts according to specifications and following all applicable processes and guidelines. You will work under the guidance of experienced machinists, learning to read blueprints, set up machines, perform quality checks, and ensure efficient production. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Utilizes gauges and tools to accurately assess tolerance of all housings for accuracy.
- Performs job duties from verbal and written instructions while interpreting blueprints, drawings, and other work orders.
- Ensures compliance with current Technical Specifications (TS) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) accepted manufacturing practices.
- Sets up, cleans, and inspect tools. Cell, store and/or load in machine as required.
- Obtains tools, fixtures, jigs, details, etc. as required.
- Performs machine offsets, program changes, and/or adjustments and replacements to assure required quality and machine operation.
- Performs first piece sheet and audit inspections following Control Plans.
- Adheres to established safety procedures and 5 “S” standards (Sort, set in order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain the cycle) required to perform daily duties in this position, including the proper techniques used in lifting/moving of parts weighing 40lbs or more.
- Operates equipment to highest production and quality standards daily.
- Operates computerized gauging for data collection and quality verification.
- Maintains all fluid levels of equipment and reports malfunctions and safety issues to supervisor or maintenance as soon as possible.
- Verifies that own work follows requirements and correct errors in own work, minimizing scrap.
- Check’s part numbers and places them in appropriate shipping containers.
- Performs and reviews Statistical Process Control (SPC); including but not limited to data collection, charts, and graphs.
- Performs record-keeping duties and maintain accurate production counts.
- Adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies (ISO14001). Incumbent is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action regarding safety, health, and environmental concerns.
- Awareness of current quality policies and procedures (IATF 16949). Incumbent is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action regarding product quality.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Additional Responsibilities of a Machinist 1 in Heat Treat Operations:
- Responsible for accurate completion of daily inspection documents, i.e., daily inspection form, first machined piece, QCI-related forms, and Process Control Charts
- Read and interpret the “recipe” for the parts being heat treated into the control of all equipment as needed.
- Schedule and/or mix furnace loads as needed to meet production demands and maximize the throughput of each furnace.
- Interact with the metallurgical lab to ensure the quality and timely release of the parts produced; Provide clear instructions to the furnace loader.
- Set up and/or program the computerized parts marking system or hand stamp as needed to properly mark each part according to standard work instructions.
- Log all appropriate data from the various controls located on each furnace and enter it into the computer according to standard work instructions.
- Will be required to safely start or recover all equipment as needed regardless of if it is a cold start, recovery from a power or equipment failure
- Other duties as assigned.

WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise and hazards such as electrical shock or gases. Some outside assignments could involve exposure to adverse weather conditions. Adequate hearing protection is required for 85 decibels and above.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
SCHEDULE:
- 8-hour Night Shift Sunday through Thursday

Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS:
- One year of work experience in a manufacturing operation is preferred.
- One year of machining experience preferred, CNC experience highly preferred.
- Problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of Shop math.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Experience in production/manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend and lift from the floor, walk, reach frequently throughout the workday.
- Ability to work overtime as needed both daily and weekends.
