About This Position
Description:
Jenkins Electric, a Charlotte-based electro-mechanical repair company, is looking for an experienced AC/DC Electric Motor Mechanic to join our fast-growing team. Mechanics are responsible for disassembly and inspection of AC and DC motors. Experience in a similar machine shop or motor shop environment is a plus.
Mechanic Responsibilities
- Be able to disassemble, clean and carefully check parts on electromechanical equipment under repair in the motor shop.
- Assess mechanical condition of equipment under repair. Identify repair and part replacement requirements.
- Experience in mechanical repair including: balancing, turning & undercutting, press work, minor machining etc. Check windings and install new leads if required.
- Be able to reassemble, paint and label repaired equipment neatly to ensure good finished appearance of repaired equipment.

- Perform regular maintenance on the company equipment and tooling that you use.
- Some overtime and travel required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Basic reading, writing, and some advanced arithmetic skills required. Basic computer skills required.
- Ability to use the following standard mechanical repair tools, electrical test tools, test panel, press, bearing puller, parts-washer, steam cleaner, sand-blaster, hoist, forklift.
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.

- Willing to perform other tasks (not listed above) as assigned by the Foremen. An attitude of that's not my job conflicts with our goal of serving our customers in a timely manner, and will not be tolerated.
- Share knowledge with co-workers that will help them complete their projects efficiently and accurately.
- Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with co-workers.
- Maintain a record of consistent attendance, stay on task during work hours, and be willing to work overtime when asked by the department foreman. (Attendance Expectation: M-F 7am 3:30pm)
- Provide feedback to company management on areas where improvements can be made.
- Represent the company favorably in interactions with customers and vendors.
- Perform all activities using proper safety equipment and procedures. Provide feedback to company management regarding unsafe equipment and procedures as appropriate.
