Job Overview:
The Data Analyst supports the Patient Accounts Department Leadership with key operational, and revenue cycle reporting functions. The Data Analyst provides direct and indirect support to management team by analyzing key performance indicators, track and trend data to identify issues. The Data Analyst Role supports Self-Pay Operations and Patient Financial Services by analyzing account-level and operational data to identify trends in patient balances, disputes, and to improve SP collections. This role transforms raw data into actionable insights that improve collections performance, reduce patient complaints, and enhance financial accuracy.
Qualifications:
Required:
- HS diploma or GED equivalent
- Knowledge in all aspects of Patient Access workflows
- Self-Pay experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Advanced Excel experience required
- Medical terminology and computer skills
- Minimum of 5 years in healthcare
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Scheduling Requirements:
- Full-Time, Salaried position– 37.5 hours a week
- Travel to Oceanport, NJ as needed
- Some travel may be required, otherwise remote
- Must reside in NJ, NY or PA
Essential Functions:
- Generate daily and weekly SP WQ and operational reports
- Monitor self-pay balance aging trends
- Audit high-balance accounts
- Review denials and adjustments impacting SP balances
- Identify accounts that should have been to insurance
- Analyze root cause of patient escalations
- Recommend corrective action based on findings.
- Utilize system generated reports to analyze data
- Analyze data to identify issues and areas of opportunity
- Create tracking and trending reports for each issue
- Provide summary findings to leadership teams
- Assist with creating action plans to address and resolve issues
- Develop reports to quantify the value and financial risk for each area
- Work the Patient Access, clinical departments and other Revenue Cycle teams to develop standard reports and expectations
- Participate in the Revenue Cycle meetings and report on trends and areas of focus
- Meet with Patient Access leadership to collaborate on areas of risk and revenue loss and develop trending reports associated to each area
- Audits and reviews workflow, patient processing and quality standards
- Identifies areas of improvement, creates and monitors routine reports to ensure data integrity
- Researches and maintains statistics on all errors or inconsistencies that exist,
- Provides recommendations for improvements
- Creates monthly statistical analyses which supports the department performance improvement initiatives
- Prepares, creates and develops reports that ae part of the Revenue Cycle Committee and Denials Task Force
- Manages the distribution of the reports and validates the accuracy and reliability of the data being presented.
- Basic understanding of healthcare revenue cycle functions including billing, coding, and collections.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, coworkers, and external partners.
- Strong problem-solving and time-management abilities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality practices.
- Maintains positive relationships with all customers, employee, physician, patient, visitor, and guests.
- Utilizes a variety of feedback to improve processes and services to meet and exceed customer needs.
- Uses sound employee relations practices and maintains high levels of visibility and accessibility.
