JOB DESCRIPTION
Personal Trainer
I. JOB-RELATED REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Certifications & Education
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must have a current nationally accredited personal training certification or a degree in an exercise-related field.
- Current CPR certification mandatory within 30 days of start date.
Technical Skills
- Must be familiar with OLS, AOD, Windows PC, Word, Excel, Outlook, and other various computer programs.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the operation of exercise equipment and be able to demonstrate its use to other staff and members.
Professional Competencies
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain efficiency and productivity with required duties.
- Ability to represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
- Ability to guide, instruct, and motivate members.
- Ability to use basic problem solving and conflict resolution skills with members and staff.
- Ability to communicate positively and effectively with other personal trainers, staff, and members.
- Must be willing to take on additional duties and responsibilities as they arise.
Appearance & Uniform
- Must be in uniform any time you are with a client, behind the trainer's desk, or working on a company computer.

II. JOB-RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Client Management
- Maintain contact with all Mountainside Fitness clients.
- Must maintain and update client schedules a minimum of 2 weeks in advance at all times.
- Schedule, manage, and conduct training sessions.
- Create effective, efficient, and varied client workout programs.
- Maintain detailed records of all exercises and sessions performed with each client.
III. OTHER
- Report directly to the Fitness Manager.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
- Performance reviews conducted at least once per year by the Fitness Manager or Vice President of Personal Training.
- Progressive disciplinary procedures — at the discretion of the Fitness Manager — include employee counseling, verbal warnings, written warnings, probation, and termination, and may not necessarily be applied in that order.
