Job Description
Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) in Bolivar, Missouri is hiring a Director for our Social Services Department — someone who leads with skill, compassion, and a drive to positively impact every patient and family we serve.
Position Details
- Status: Full-Time
- Work Shift: Days
- Hours: 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri
What Your Day Looks Like: You will provide strategic leadership and oversight of social services across hospital, clinic, long-term care, and home care settings. This system role supports the leaders supervising social work teams, ensures regulatory compliance, implements discharge planning best practices, and develops partnerships that strengthen access to community resources and support services.
As the Director of the Hospital Social Services Department, you will be:
- Directing a team of social work professionals, providing coaching, performance management, competency development, and operational oversight.
- Collaborating with physicians, nursing, care management, behavioral health, and community partners to promote high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Advancing initiatives addressing social determinants of health, including access to healthcare, medications, transportation, housing, food resources, and interpreter services.
- Serving as an organizational advocate for patient rights and quality care.
- Collaborating with administration to determine operational and capital budgetary needs, and identifying improvement opportunities to implement for measurable results.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution required
- Experience: Minimum three years of experience in a medical care setting required; hospital experience preferred.
- Skills: Previous leadership experience strongly preferred, with demonstrated knowledge of team development, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Licensure/Certification: CPI training within one year of hire, renewed annually per CMH policy. Public Notary preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the work shift.
