Collector at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital – Clinton, Missouri

The Collector is responsible for the collecting of patient accounts from all appropriate third-party payers. This position also generates bills/claims as needed and responds to patient, payer and other third-party information requests. This position is responsible for following up on all billed claims to ensure proper payment and posting, following all Patient Accounts policies as well as performing all other duties as assigned. This person reports to the Supervisor of Patient Accounts and the Director of Medical Billing.

Responsibilities:
Works credit balance report to ensure credits are handled timely and kept low.
Cross trains with other billers/collectors in order to provide coverage if needed.
Monitors and works insurance A/R (aging) and follows up on denials in order to keep A/R days low.
Sends/follows up on claims daily and works all claim rejections/errors in order to assure all claims are processed timely.
Works with patients regarding insurance/billing questions and addresses them in a professional manner.
Responsible for balancing deposits to bank and related recordkeeping.

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
One to three years' billing/insurance experience
