About Us
We are a growing real estate investment and property management company based in Los Angeles, with a portfolio spanning over 1,000 residential units and nearly 1 million square feet of commercial space. As we expand our team and scale our operations, we are seeking a Senior Accountant to lead and evolve our internal accounting department. This is a high-impact leadership role with the opportunity to shape financial operations for both owned and third-party assets.
About the Role
The Senior Accountant will oversee all aspects of financial accounting, reporting, and compliance across our real estate portfolio. You will lead a team of two senior accountants and five staff accountants, ensuring timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting for internal stakeholders, investors, and third-party clients. This role reports directly to the President and works closely with Asset Management and Operations to support strategic decision-making and organizational efficiency.
Requirements:What You'll Do
- Lead and manage the accounting function across all real estate investments, including owned assets and third-party managed properties
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
- Prepare and review financial statements, investor reporting packages, and property-level analytics
- Establish and refine accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; lead the creation and implementation of SOPs
- Manage team performance, structure workflows, and develop team members to support career growth and departmental efficiency
- Oversee audit, tax, debt compliance, and other external reporting requirements
- Collaborate on acquisition and disposition activities, including closing statements and transaction-level accounting
- Support the implementation and optimization of accounting software systems (AppFolio experience strongly preferred)
- Partner with executive leadership to drive financial visibility, budgeting, and strategic planning
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role
- Strong background in real estate investment and property management accounting
- Deep understanding of GAAP, real estate fund structures, and financial reporting best practices
- Advanced experience with AppFolio or comparable property management/accounting software
- Proven ability to implement structure, policy, and process improvements in a growing company
- Demonstrated team leadership experience — you know how to motivate, delegate, and scale
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments and with ownership/investors
