POSITION PURPOSE:

The Investments Group at CIM is comprised of investments and portfolio management professionals working collaboratively to a) source, structure and execute new investments, and b) ensure that investment and fund performance aligns with the fund objectives. The AVP, Investments role (with a Real Estate Equity focus) is an integral part of the CIM team working directly with Investment Leads, Principals and Founders. You will work in a supportive, growth-oriented environment and gain valuable exposure to a variety of projects across multiple real estate sectors, such as multifamily, office, retail, and industrial, amongst others, as well as equity investment strategies across the risk-return spectrum, including core, value-add, opportunistic, and ground-up development. Although focused on real estate, you will also gain valuable exposure to CIM’s wide range of investment platforms active in principal investing. This position is a core member of CIM’s Real Estate Equity Investments team and will be accountable for the full set of responsibilities necessary to deliver on successful investment outcomes, from investment execution to value creation and exit.

This role is based at our corporate headquarters in Los Angeles and supports the Real Estate Investments team through transaction management including macroeconomic and microeconomic research, financial analysis, transaction execution, due diligence and ongoing asset management and governance through the lifecycle of an investment. As an integral member of deal teams, an AVP participates actively in both internal and external meetings and represents CIM Group and its Investments team.

Top performers in this position are dedicated, self-motivated individuals with at least three years of experience working in finance and private investments, an MBA degree or equivalent, superb critical thinking skills, proven commercial judgement and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

ABOUT YOU:
  • 4+ years’ professional experience with an investment firm, private equity firm, investment bank or similar organization and/or master’s degree in business, Real Estate, Economics, or a related field.
  • Real Estate Investment or project experience (investing, project finance, M&A) in relevant sectors required.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial modeling.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and interpretive skills, with a preference for fluency in corporate and/or asset finance. Detail-oriented.
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive culture and value diverse perspectives.
  • Demonstrated leadership/mentorship skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment and work effectively with deal team members often spread across functional disciplines and multiple geographies including but not limited to Los Angeles, Oakland, Chicago, Atlanta, New York City, and Washington D.C.

Actual base salary considers several factors including but not limited to geography, job-related knowledge, experience, and budget. At CIM, base pay is one part of the total compensation package. For this role, bonus compensation may be a significant part of the total compensation. The anticipated base salary for the position in Los Angeles, CA is $200,000.
