Job Summary
The Accounting Project Manager will be primarily responsible for leadership and coordination of a variety of projects within the Finance Department related to the organizations accounting, financial reporting, and financial analysis of construction and development projects, and other assigned projects including assistance with corporate entities. This individual will manage processes in place and assist in developing new processes to produce accurate and timely reporting for these projects and other assigned projects.
Essential Functions
The Accounting Project Manager’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following accounting functions:
• Manage the accounting and reporting of Development and Construction projects including account coding of expenses and reconciliation of the subledger system to the General Ledger
• Preparation of Development project accounting internal and external reporting including internally prepared cost segregation reporting for tax purposes.
• Manage the Real Estate/Property Tax appeal process including coordinating with third party consultants to appeal tax assessments.
• Assist in the management of all expenses which impact the corporate entities’ books including overseeing coding of invoices, allocation of corporate expenses and overhead.
• Prepare journal entries including allocation of corporate expenses to the properties and adjusting/reclass entries in order to complete the month-end close of the corporate entities.
• Prepare and review journal entries in the ERP system (OneSite Accounting/Intacct) to ensure they comply with GK, US GAAP and/or Tax reporting standards.
• Prepare account reconciliations for select corporate and property level balance sheet accounts.
• Collaborate with Property Management, Information Services, and all accounting departments to produce accurate financial reports.
• Provide support to executive management regarding financial statement analysis including expense classification and for corporate entities.
• Facilitate monthly financial reviews with various departments including HR/Payroll and Construction & Development on project based or recurring reconciliations.
• Preparation of audit and tax year end packages.
• Responsible for preparing, reviewing, and presenting ad hoc analyses.
• Assist in special projects for executive management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Demonstrates leadership skills.
• Well-developed understanding of accounting systems to produce financial reporting, an understanding of US GAAP and Tax reporting standards, and ability to work in a changing environment.
• Ability to embrace and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
• Possesses a keen sense of accountability with a willingness to commit and complete what is required in a timely manner.
• Ability to work in team environment on important matters with short lead times, including interfacing with various GK corporate departments.
• Comfort in working up and across the organization – collaborating with senior staff members and front-line employees.
• Proficient in MS Office and accounting systems such as RealPage/OneSite and Yardi.
• CPA certified and/or graduate degree in finance or accounting is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications Required
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related degree required.
• Advanced degree and/or CPA preferred.
• Must have 10 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably with 5 years’ experience in a mid to senior level management position.
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
• Proficient in using Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel with a preference for advanced skills.

This position operates in an office setting and in a professional office environment. This is a full-time position and may require driving for business and travel.
