In this role, you will act as a senior technical authority supporting complex generation, load, and transmission interconnection studies within the ERCOT framework. You will play a critical part in enabling large-scale energy projects by guiding clients through evolving grid requirements and technical constraints. The position combines deep engineering expertise with client-facing advisory responsibilities, requiring strong communication and decision-making under uncertainty. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality planning and modeling studies that support grid reliability and expansion. Beyond technical execution, you will mentor engineers, strengthen delivery standards, and enhance internal capabilities. This is a high-impact role shaping energy infrastructure and accelerating the transition toward a more resilient grid.
In this role, you will lead and support advanced interconnection and planning studies while acting as a trusted advisor to clients navigating ERCOT requirements.
- Perform complex generation, load, and interconnection studies aligned with ERCOT and TSP methodologies
- Conduct model benchmarking for generation and load projects to ensure compliance with evolving standards
- Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting complex engineering challenges and supporting junior engineers
- Mentor and guide a small team of engineers, fostering technical excellence and professional growth
- Strengthen internal QA/QC frameworks and delivery processes to ensure high-quality project execution
- Translate complex technical findings into actionable insights for clients and stakeholders
- Review interconnection studies and identify innovative solutions to accelerate project timelines
- Act as a key technical liaison between clients, regulators, and internal engineering teams
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in power system studies and deep familiarity with ERCOT interconnection processes, combined with leadership and communication skills.
- 6+ years of experience in electric energy systems, focusing on interconnection, transmission planning, or generation studies
- Strong knowledge of ERCOT requirements and utility-scale interconnection standards
- Experience working directly with ERCOT, utilities, or consulting on ERCOT-related projects
- Background in IBR and/or load modeling and grid integration studies
- Experience with EMT studies (e.g., PSCAD) is highly valued
- Ability to connect technical analysis with broader commercial and project implications
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills in complex, uncertain environments
- Proven ability to work independently while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams
