Job Description
Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) is seeking a Scrub Technician to join our team in the Operating Room at the main hospital in Bolivar, Missouri — someone who leads with skill, compassion, and a drive to positively impact every patient and family we serve.
Position Details
- Status: Full-time
- Work Shift: Days
- Hours: 72 hours every 2 weeks, 7am-5:30pm
What Your Day Looks Like: The OR consists of 23 active surgeons who perform an average of 372 surgeries/month. The OR has 6 outpatient, 3 inpatient, and 1 C-section designated suites that run 4 teams of staff each day. The surgeons work to educate, train, and develop staff to operate fluidly together.
As a Scrub Technician, you will be:
- Preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile field, and assisting surgeons directly during procedures by handing them instruments and supplies
- Assisting with transferring and positioning the patient on the operating table and prepping the incision site
- Anticipating the surgeon's requirements by closely following the procedure, and rapidly handing them the correct sterile instruments, sponges, and medications
- Completing a final recount of instruments and sponges to ensure nothing is retained in the patient
- Safely collecting and labeling any tissue specimens taken for laboratory analysis
- Clearing used equipment, disposing of biohazards, and cleaning the operating room to prepare it for the next surgical case
Qualifications
Education: Completion of a Surgical Technician program with an Associate's Degree from an accredited institution, or currently enrolled in Surgical Technician program, or LPN with Scrub Tech experience
Skills: Patient care, teamwork, attention to detail, and listening skills
Licensure/Certification: Certified Surgical Technician, currently in Surgical Tech program to attain CST, or LPN with Scrub Tech experience
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift, pull, or transfer up to 50 lbs., and excellent fine motor skills, vision, and hearing.
