Mount Vernon School Online

Launched in 2022, Mount Vernon made their sought-after Upper School Competency-based curriculum available in a digital and asynchronous format for students to access anytime and take anywhere. In the spring of 2023, MVSO was available for enrolling students from Grades 9 - 12, offering over 160 courses, and allowing students to learn at their own pace with regular teacher check-ins. MVSO now serves a diverse student body, including student-athletes, performers, homeschool families, international students, gifted learners, and those with health or mobility challenges. In 2024, MVSO graduated its first two students, who went on to attend UGA and the University of Alabama.

MVSO has the potential to serve a global audience with unlimited forecasted growth for years to come.

The Role
MVSO seeks a driven Admissions Officer & Recruiter to develop partnerships and students to scale our virtual independent school for grades 9-12, positioning it as a category leader in online education. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in recruitment, enrollment, and business development, with a proven ability to build strategic partnerships and foster exceptional student retention.

The Admissions Officer will play a vital role in growing the community by collaborating with external partners to build admissions pipelines and amplify brand recognition within the virtual education and self-directed learning communities. Reporting to the Head of School and in close collaboration with the MVS Admissions and Marketing teams, the MVSO Admissions Officer will oversee a talented team that includes the Director of MVSO and the Dean of Students.

This individual is responsible for identifying, engaging, and enrolling mission-aligned students and families through personalized outreach, compelling storytelling, and high-touch relationship-building. As a key ambassador of the Mount Vernon School Online experience, the Admissions Officer must thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment and be energized by sharing a bold vision of education with diverse audiences.

This hybrid position offers flexibility to work remotely but requires availability for on-site events and meetings in Atlanta, GA. This is an exceptional opportunity for a results-driven leader to shape the future of virtual education at MVSO.

With students currently enrolled in full time, part-time, and hybrid capacities, we envision scaling our online school to new markets and working with partners who can help improve the quality and adoption of MVSO. We seek to be a leader in the virtual high school marketplace, offering a unique and innovative experience that is easily accessible and transforms “on demand” learning. This success will not only be a revenue-driver for The Mount Vernon Organization, but help us fulfill our strategic goal of developing an adaptive organization with diverse networks, engaged students, connected parents, and a high performing faculty & staff.

Responsibilities
  • Enrollment Management | Drive student recruitment and retention strategy/initiatives, and achieve enrollment goals through effective marketing and community engagement strategies.
  • Student Recruitment & Outreach | Develop and implement strategic outreach plans to identify and attract prospective families nationwide. Represent Mount Vernon Online at virtual and in-person events, school fairs, and conferences. Establish relationships with feeder schools, community organizations, and educational partners.
  • Admissions Counseling & Relationship Management | Guide families through every stage of the admissions process with empathy, professionalism, and clarity. Conduct virtual interviews and information sessions for prospective students and parents. Maintain accurate records and communications in the admissions CRM (Ravenna).
  • Marketing & Communications | Collaborate with the Brand team to create targeted campaigns, email sequences, and social media content that highlight the unique value of Mount Vernon Online. Share compelling stories, student testimonials, and program highlights that resonate with prospective families.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting | Monitor applicant trends, demographic insights, and conversion metrics to inform strategy. Prepare regular reports on progress toward enrollment goals and outreach effectiveness.

  • Demonstrated success in meeting enrollment targets and driving student retention.
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to innovate and adapt in a rapidly changing educational landscape.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
