About the Role:

The Bookkeeper plays a critical role in maintaining the financial health and accuracy of the organization by managing all aspects of financial record-keeping. This position ensures that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely, supporting the preparation of financial statements and reports. The Bookkeeper will oversee accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll tax processing, and general ledger maintenance to provide a clear and up-to-date financial picture. By managing tax returns and compliance-related documentation, the Bookkeeper helps the organization meet regulatory requirements and avoid penalties. Ultimately, this role supports informed decision-making by providing reliable financial data and maintaining the integrity of the company’s accounting systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles.
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management.
  • Familiarity with payroll tax processes and tax return preparation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or certification in accounting or bookkeeping is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a mid-sized or large organization with complex financial transactions.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting software beyond QuickBooks, such as Excel or other ERP systems.
  • Understanding of federal and state tax regulations and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update financial records using QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all transactions.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing, payment processing, and collections.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to verify and balance company accounts.
  • Prepare and file payroll tax reports and assist with payroll processing to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Maintain the general ledger by recording all financial transactions and preparing journal entries as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax returns and support external auditors during financial audits.
  • Monitor and manage bookkeeping workflows to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and resolve discrepancies.
