Job Description

Behavioral Health Counselor | Hamilton, OH

Location: Hamilton, OH

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

Who We Are

At DeCoach Recovery, we help people rebuild their lives after addiction and mental health struggles. Our programs pair proven clinical methods with genuine compassion, and every care plan is built around the individual in front of us. Our goal goes beyond getting through a crisis. We want clients to stay well for the long haul.

Why This Role Matters

Our Hamilton team is growing and adding a Behavioral Health Counselor who wants to do hands-on therapeutic work in a supportive, team-driven setting. You will meet clients where they are, help them identify what is standing in their way, and work with them on practical, goal-focused steps forward. Your caseload will be varied, your colleagues will be engaged, and you will see the difference your work makes.

What You’ll Do
  • Complete client assessments and build personalized treatment plans grounded in evidence-based, solution-focused methods
  • Lead individual and group therapy sessions that draw on each client’s strengths and put their goals first
  • Partner with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and case managers to shape well-rounded care
  • Step in with de-escalation and crisis support when clients are in distress, and connect them to the right resources to keep them safe
  • Keep thorough, timely records, including progress notes and treatment plans, that meet professional and agency standards
  • Contribute to team huddles, case reviews, and clinical supervision
  • Offer respectful, culturally aware care to people from every background, and speak up for their needs both inside our organization and in the wider community
  • Keep learning through training and current research, and take advantage of room to move up

  • A collaborative style and comfort working alongside professionals from different disciplines
  • Self-direction paired with the good judgment to ask for guidance when needed
  • Solid organizational habits for managing a caseload and meeting documentation deadlines
  • Composure and sound ethics in a busy setting where priorities can shift
