About This Position
Position Overview:
The Surgical Technologist assists surgeons and other medical professionals during surgical procedures. Responsible for preparing the operating room, organizing surgical equipment and instruments and ensuring a sterile environment to promote patient safety and surgical success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares patient and equipment and aids health care provider during treatment and examination of patient.
- Maintains supplies, equipment, and orderliness of work area to provide smooth workflow in the department.
- Assists with sterile processing duties.
- Communicates effectively
- Promotes and ensures patient and staff safety in all aspects of responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- If non-certified, on the job training will be provided (Surgical Tech I)
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program (Surgical Tech II or III Lead)
- Currently licensed as an LPN by the State of Nebraska (Surgical Tech II or III Lead)
- Must be able to take call and respond within 30 minutes
- Knowledge of operating room procedures
- Knowledge of equipment, instruments and supplies used in the operating room
- Knowledge of principles and practices of aseptic techniques
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or upon hire
- Surgical tech experience preferred
