POSITION SUMMARY

Frontier Door + Cabinet, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and service-focused Human Resources Assistant to join our team at our Tacoma, WA facility. This in-office role provides essential administrative and HR support across multiple areas of workforce management, including front desk operations, recruitment, onboarding, employee records, benefits support, compliance tracking, and employee relations intake.

The Human Resources Assistant serves as the first point of contact for employees, applicants, visitors, and external partners. This position plays an important role in ensuring a professional, welcoming, and responsive HR experience while supporting compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable employment requirements. This role also acts as an initial point of triage for employee questions and concerns, escalating matters as appropriate.

Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are highly preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the implementation, communication, and monitoring of HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by answering phones, greeting visitors, responding to employee and applicant questions, and ensuring front desk inquiries are handled with urgency, professionalism, and accuracy.
  • Support full-cycle recruitment efforts, including posting job openings, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, conducting phone screens, preparing legally compliant interview questions, and participating in regular recruiting meetings.
  • Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding processes in partnership with HR and Safety, including Form I-9 compliance, onboarding documentation, filing procedures, orientation support, and training coordination.
  • Maintain accurate and organized employment-related records, including active and terminated employee files.
  • Assist employees with basic benefits questions and provide administrative support during open enrollment.
  • Track and maintain the administrative portion of the company’s approved driver list, including ticket and accident tracking.
  • Participate in HR and Safety audits to support compliance, accuracy, and efficiency of internal processes.
  • Assist with HRIS, ATS, and employee data entry, updates, and reporting as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling employee information and sensitive workplace matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 2-3 years of prior experience in Human Resources or a related administrative role.
  • Prior experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee records, or HR compliance preferred.
  • HR certification is not required, but is a plus.
  • Prior HRIS experience required; ADP experience highly desired.
  • Experience supporting or assisting with ATS implementation is a plus.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work the assigned onsite schedule.
