As a Staff Software Engineer, you will provide hands-on technical leadership for a high-scale content platform powering customer-facing marketing experiences. You will help transform a sophisticated CMS and no-code ecosystem into an AI-driven, agentic platform capable of turning marketing briefs into campaigns in minutes. The role spans backend architecture, full-stack development, content rendering, and emerging AI capabilities. You will work on systems serving millions of customers across onsite and offsite channels, including web, email, and push notifications. Working closely with engineering, product, marketing, creative, and design teams, you will solve complex technical challenges with direct business and growth impact. This is an opportunity to shape technical strategy, mentor engineers, and build scalable systems at the intersection of software engineering, marketing technology, and AI.
- Define and drive the technical vision and architecture for a large-scale content platform, applying a product-first mindset to technical decision-making.
- Lead the design and development of an agentic platform that enables marketers to create personalized onsite and offsite content through intuitive, no-code workflows.
- Architect and build scalable backend services and platform capabilities supporting content creation, management, rendering, and distribution at high volume.
- Drive initiatives across the full software development lifecycle, including technical design, implementation, testing, experimentation, deployment, and ongoing optimization.
- Help evolve the platform from traditional content-management capabilities toward AI-powered systems that can translate marketing briefs into fully realized campaigns.
- Develop reliable, flexible, and efficient distributed systems capable of serving content to millions of users.
- Participate actively in architecture, code, and design reviews, providing thoughtful technical direction and raising engineering quality across the organization.
- Partner closely with product, marketing, creative, design, and other engineering teams to translate business opportunities into scalable technical solutions.
- Provide technical leadership across teams and departments, influencing engineering strategy and helping align stakeholders around complex initiatives.
- Mentor engineers and provide hands-on technical guidance, fostering knowledge sharing, strong engineering practices, and continuous learning.
- Identify opportunities to improve system efficiency, availability, scalability, maintainability, and overall platform quality.
- Bring Staff-level technical leadership to ambiguous, high-impact problems and establish solutions that can evolve with changing business needs.
- 10+ years of hands-on professional software engineering experience, with a demonstrated track record of delivering complex, production-grade systems.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Deep expertise designing and developing backend systems using large-scale, service-oriented architectures and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience architecting and developing AI-powered or agentic systems, with demonstrated production experience rather than experimentation alone.
- Strong experience with Java and/or Kotlin, along with modern backend development practices.
- Experience with technologies such as LangGraph, GraphQL, relational and NoSQL databases, Redis or comparable caching technologies, and microservice architectures.
- Strong understanding of system scalability, reliability, availability, performance, and operational quality.
- Ability to make sound architectural decisions while balancing technical excellence with product requirements, delivery timelines, and business priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives spanning multiple engineering teams, departments, and senior leadership stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and influence decisions across functions.
- Strong mentoring and technical leadership capabilities, with a track record of raising engineering standards and helping other engineers grow.
- A product-oriented mindset and genuine interest in using technology, AI, and automation to solve meaningful customer and business problems.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-moving environment where requirements can evolve and problems may be highly ambiguous.
- Competitive base salary of $212,000–$265,000 USD, with final compensation determined by factors including experience, transferable skills, training, market conditions, and business needs.
- Potential eligibility for performance-based bonuses and equity.
- Comprehensive employee benefits.

- Reasonable accommodations available throughout the recruitment process for candidates with disabilities.
- Remote eligibility is subject to living in a U.S. state where the partner company has a registered entity. Current excluded states include Alaska, Mississippi, and North Dakota, although eligibility may change over time.
