Job Description

Senior Engineering Manager, Rapid Response

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Engineering Manager, Rapid Response based in United States.

This is a senior technical leadership opportunity at the intersection of offensive security, vulnerability research, AI-driven automation, and software engineering. You will lead a high-performing team responsible for responding rapidly to emerging vulnerabilities and zero-day threats. The role combines people leadership with deep technical involvement in building advanced research and exploit-development workflows. You will establish strong operational practices that enable fast, rigorous, and production-safe execution. Working closely with Product Management and field teams, you will translate complex security research into valuable customer-facing capabilities. You will also help shape AI-native technologies that accelerate vulnerability discovery, analysis, and response. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader who wants to influence both team growth and the future of autonomous offensive security.

Accountabilities
  • Lead and develop a diverse team of Attack Engineers working across vulnerability research and agentic software engineering, supporting career growth, mentorship, performance, and technical development across multiple levels of seniority.
  • Set technical direction, priorities, engineering standards, and quality expectations for vulnerability research, AI-native automation pipelines, and rapid-response product capabilities.
  • Manage daily triage and prioritization of emerging CVEs and zero-day vulnerabilities, establishing operating rhythms that enable rapid analysis, reproduction, validation, and exploit development.
  • Drive the design and implementation of AI-powered research harnesses, LLM workflows, and automated pipelines that accelerate vulnerability discovery, patch analysis, and proof-of-concept development.
  • Partner closely with Product Management, field teams, and other stakeholders to translate offensive security research into reliable, high-quality product capabilities.
  • Analyze attack data, telemetry, and threat trends to prioritize high-value research opportunities and measure the real-world effectiveness of security coverage.
  • Balance rapid execution with production-safe engineering practices, ensuring that systems, research outputs, and customer-facing capabilities meet high standards for quality and security.
  • Support hiring and organizational growth as the team expands, while fostering a culture of continuous learning, technical rigor, collaboration, and secure software development.
  • Communicate complex vulnerabilities, technical designs, and exploit concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
  • 2–3+ years of direct people management experience leading software engineers, combined with at least 3 years of software development experience.
  • Proven experience hiring and interviewing engineers and developing high-performing technical teams.
  • Professional experience in cybersecurity, particularly vulnerability research, vulnerability analysis, offensive security, or related R&D environments.
  • Deep practical understanding of vulnerability classes such as remote code execution, authentication bypasses, deserialization vulnerabilities, and SSRF, including the characteristics that make vulnerabilities practical for real-world exploitation.
  • Strong production software engineering background, particularly with Python, along with experience using Git and effective engineering workflows.
  • Experience leveraging AI harnesses, LLM workflows, or agentic frameworks to accelerate technical research and engineering processes.
  • Ability to evaluate complex technical designs and maintain high standards for secure, reliable, and production-ready software.
  • Experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL or Neo4j, with additional familiarity with SQL and security or threat intelligence data analysis.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance hands-on technical depth and strategic leadership.
  • Experience collaborating with Product Management, customer-facing teams, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality products.
  • Preferred experience includes vulnerability disclosure programs, published CVEs, bug bounty programs, exploit development, reverse engineering, customer-facing technical content, deception technologies, or threat telemetry analysis.
  • Familiarity with C, C++, Rust, Assembly, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or large-scale software systems is advantageous.
  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as OSCP or equivalent are a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally, with travel expected to be up to 10%.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation with a salary range of $242,250–$327,695.
  • Fully remote work environment within the United States.
  • Opportunity to lead a technically advanced team operating at the intersection of cybersecurity, AI, vulnerability research, and software engineering.
  • Significant scope to influence technical strategy, team development, and the evolution of AI-native security technologies.
  • Up to 10% travel as required by the role.
