Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Decision Scientist (Strategic Insights) based in Canada.
This role is a high-impact, strategic analytics position focused on turning complex user and business data into clear, actionable decisions that shape product direction, growth strategy, and investment priorities. You will act as a key thought partner to Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Finance teams, influencing what gets built and where resources are allocated. Rather than producing dashboards, your work will directly drive decisions through rigorous causal analysis, experimentation, and sharp narrative insight. You will operate in a fast-scaling, AI-enabled data organization where automation handles routine reporting so you can focus on deeper interpretation and strategic thinking. This is a highly cross-functional role where your ability to frame the right questions is as important as your analytical rigor. You will help define measurement frameworks, uncover causality in complex user behavior, and translate insights into organizational action. You will also contribute to shaping next-generation AI-native analytics workflows across the team.
- Serve as the primary strategic analytics partner for an operating group, defining and driving the most critical questions that shape product, growth, and investment decisions.
- Lead high-impact causal and statistical analysis, including experimentation, A/B testing, and advanced inference methods to uncover drivers of user and business behavior.
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear, compelling narratives that influence leadership decisions and cross-functional roadmaps.
- Design and own measurement frameworks and metric strategies that reflect real user behavior and business outcomes across a complex product ecosystem.
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Finance to embed insights into decision-making and prioritize high-leverage initiatives.
- Build and refine instrumentation and data models in collaboration with data engineering teams to ensure reliable and meaningful analytics foundations.
- Contribute to the evolution of AI-native analytics workflows, helping scale self-serve insights and automation across the organization.
- Mentor senior team members in causal reasoning, experimental design, and modern analytics practices.
- 8+ years of experience in data science, decision science, or advanced analytics within consumer or platform tech environments.
- Strong expertise in causal inference methodologies such as difference-in-differences, instrumental variables, regression discontinuity, and propensity score matching.
- Proven track record of influencing product or business strategy through data-driven insights and cross-functional collaboration.
- Deep experience with experimentation platforms (e.g., Statsig, Optimizely, or similar) and end-to-end A/B test design and analysis.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python or R for statistical modeling and analysis.
- Advanced degree in a quantitative field (economics, statistics, operations research, quantitative social sciences) or equivalent practical experience.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to drive alignment and action from complex analysis.
- Experience working with subscription, freemium, or multi-market consumer products is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with LTV modeling, incrementality testing, or marketing mix modeling is a plus.
- Experience in AI-enabled analytics environments or building modern data workflows is an advantage.
- Competitive compensation package aligned with experience, including base salary and equity.
- Comprehensive health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage.
- Retirement savings plans with company contributions (401(k) or RRSP/DPSP depending on location).
- Flexible remote-first work environment with strong autonomy and outcome-focused culture.
- Generous paid time off, company-wide holidays, and scheduled annual shutdown periods.
- Mental health and employee assistance programs.
- Learning and development support, including tools, training, and career growth resources.
- Home office and equipment stipends to support remote productivity.
- Additional wellness, family, and lifestyle benefits including paid memberships and product perks.
