Registered Nurse (RN)
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our urology practice. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative outpatient setting while providing hands-on nursing care to patients with a variety of urologic conditions.
The ideal candidate is comfortable performing clinical procedures, has strong assessment and communication skills, and enjoys developing relationships with patients as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Previous urology experience is helpful but not required for a candidate with a strong clinical background and willingness to learn.
Schedule
This is a full-time position of approximately 36-40 hours per week. Following completion of training, scheduling options may include:
• 4-day workweek with approximately 9-10-hour shifts
• 5-day workweek with approximately 8-hour shifts
We are open to discussing the schedule that works best for the successful candidate and the needs of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, clinical standards, and physician orders.
• Perform patient assessments and obtain relevant medical histories and clinical information.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians and other authorized providers.
• Perform routine urinary catheter insertions and changes.
• Perform suprapubic (SP) catheter changes.
• Assist providers with in-office procedures and treatments, including botulinum toxin (Botox) treatments and acute pain management.
• Provide patient education regarding procedures, treatments, medications, catheter care, and follow-up instructions.
• Assess patient concerns and communicate relevant clinical information to providers.
• Monitor patients before, during, and following procedures as appropriate.
• Accurately and thoroughly document assessments, treatments, procedures, and other patient care activities in the electronic health record.
• Coordinate with physicians, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, administrative staff, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
• Maintain appropriate infection-control and patient-safety practices.
• Assist with additional clinical responsibilities as needed to support patient care and practice operations.
Qualifications
Required
• Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Strong clinical assessment and nursing skills.
• Ability to safely administer medications and perform clinical treatments and procedures.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient-service skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate clinical documentation.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Experience working with an electronic health record (EHR) system.
Preferred
• Previous experience in an outpatient clinic, physician practice, hospital, or other clinical setting.
• Previous urology experience.
• Experience with urinary catheterization and suprapubic catheter care.
• Experience assisting with office-based procedures.
• Experience with an electronic health record system.
