Job Description
BURN BOOT CAMP CULTURE
Burn Boot Camp is one of the fastest-growing fitness franchises in the nation and has experienced rapid growth since its founding in 2015. We move like our Members — with purpose and fast-paced. We aim to inspire, empower, and transform lives through community-based fitness.
THE ROLE
The Director of Retail is the senior leader of Burn Boot Camp’s retail division. You own the full commercial and operational scope of the business — activewear, nutrition, customs, e-commerce, B2B Franchise Partner channels, and emerging categories — from annual strategy through daily execution.
This is a leadership role. You set direction, build the plan, manage the vendor ecosystem at a strategic level, and make sure your team and systems execute with precision. You are accountable for outcomes, not for doing the work that belongs to others.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Strategy and P&L. Annual retail plan, category and channel priorities, revenue forecasts, margin targets, and monthly performance reviews with the COO.
- Product and buying. Category strategy, seasonal buys, and the multi-line planning calendar across activewear, nutrition, Kids Camp, and International.
- Vendors. Strategic relationships, contracts, and performance standards across all retail vendors, including Fabletics and other partnerships.
- Cross-functional partnership. Lead retail’s work with Finance, Technology, and Marketing — co-own the retail marketing calendar and the retail technology roadmap, and sequence every major launch.
- Activewear Advisory Committee. Full ownership of governance, facilitation, follow-through, and outcomes.
- SLAs and operations. Define, monitor, and enforce service standards across customs, fulfillment, e-commerce, and Franchise Partner support.
- Franchise Partner experience. End-to-end ownership of how Franchise Partners interact with the retail division.
- Burn Nutrition and innovation. Strategy and performance for the nutrition business, plus a pipeline of new categories, channels, and partnerships.
- Team. Lead and develop the Sr. Activewear Merchandising Manager, Retail Operations Manager, and Brand + Commerce Manager, with clear expectations and real accountability.
WHAT GREAT LOOKS LIKE:
- The division runs. Vendors are accountable, SLAs are met, and Franchise Partners get best-in-class service without escalation.
- Finance trusts the numbers. Reporting is accurate and on time, and financial risk is raised before the period closes.
- Launches land. The marketing calendar and retail calendar are one calendar, and no launch is delayed by missing retail inputs.
- The team grows. Every team member is more capable and more accountable than they were 12 months ago.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- 7–10 years of progressive retail leadership, with direct ownership of a P&L and a team.
- A track record of building and executing retail strategy in a franchise, multi-channel, or high-growth environment.
- Strong financial acumen — you can build, own, and explain a retail P&L and drive margin.
- Strategic vendor management experience, including negotiation, contracts, and performance accountability.
- Proven cross-functional leadership with Finance, Technology, and Marketing, including driving outcomes without direct authority.
- Experience with e-commerce platforms, B2B fulfillment, and product lifecycle management.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, retail management, or a related field required. MBA or equivalent experience a plus.
- Ability to travel as needed for vendor meetings, events, and Franchise Partner engagement.
