Description:

Boater’s World Manufacturing Group is seeking a dependable, hands-on Boat Shipping & Loading Specialist to join our manufacturing team in Chocowinity, North Carolina.

This position works with completed boats at the end of the manufacturing process and is responsible for staging, positioning, loading, and securing finished boats onto transport trailers for shipment.

This is not a traditional warehouse shipping or CDL driving position. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working around completed boats, trailers, tools, and manufacturing equipment and who understands the importance of safely handling a finished product.

Previous boat-loading experience is helpful but not required. Candidates with experience in boat assembly, manufacturing, automotive, RV, equipment handling, or other hands-on production environments are encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Do

Boat Loading & Transport Preparation
  • Prepare completed boats for loading and outbound transportation.
  • Stage boats in the appropriate areas based on scheduled shipments.
  • Move and position boats for loading onto transport trailers.
  • Assist with loading finished boats onto large commercial boat transports and specialized trailers.
  • Properly position boats on transport trailers according to established loading procedures.
  • Secure boats using approved straps, tie-downs, supports, and other equipment.
  • Verify boats are properly positioned, supported, and secured before they leave the facility.
  • Install or position protective materials as needed to prevent damage during transportation.
  • Assist with loading multiple boats onto transport trailers when required.
  • Perform final checks of loaded boats before transport.
Finished Boat Handling
  • Safely work around completed boats without damaging gelcoat, upholstery, hardware, windshields, electronics, or other finished components.
  • Move and position boats carefully throughout staging and loading areas.
  • Inspect boats for visible damage or concerns before loading.
  • Report damage, missing components, or other concerns before shipment.
  • Verify loose components and accessories are properly stored or secured for transportation.
  • Help ensure completed boats leave the facility in the expected condition.
  • Follow established procedures for protecting finished surfaces during loading and securement.
Equipment & Trailer Support
  • Safely operate approved equipment used to move boats and trailers.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, straps, tie-downs, and other loading equipment as required.
  • Assist with positioning transport trailers for loading.
  • Perform basic inspections of assigned equipment before use.
  • Maintain loading equipment, straps, tools, and work areas in good condition.
  • Report damaged or unsafe equipment immediately.
  • Follow established procedures when working on or around large boat transport trailers.
Production & Shipping Support
  • Coordinate with Production, Final Finish, Quality, and other departments to identify boats ready for shipment.
  • Verify the correct boats are staged and prepared for scheduled transportation.
  • Communicate loading delays, damage, missing items, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Work with transportation drivers during the loading process as needed.
  • Help maintain an organized flow of completed boats through staging and loading areas.
  • Support changing production and shipping priorities as needed.
  • Assist other team members with boat movement and loading activities.
Safety & Housekeeping
  • Follow all safety procedures when moving, positioning, loading, and securing boats.
  • Maintain awareness of trailers, boats, forklifts, tow equipment, vehicles, and pedestrians.
  • Keep loading and staging areas clean, organized, and free of unnecessary hazards.
  • Properly store straps, tools, tie-downs, and loading equipment after use.
  • Follow safe practices when climbing or working on and around boats and transport trailers.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or other hazards.
  • Wear required PPE and follow all facility safety procedures.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in boat assembly, manufacturing, production, loading, material handling, automotive, RV, marine, or another hands-on environment preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and equipment.
  • Ability to safely move, position, load, and secure large finished products.
  • Comfortable working around boats, trailers, tow equipment, and moving machinery.
  • Ability to use straps, tie-downs, hand tools, and other loading equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to preventing damage to finished boats.
  • Ability to follow established loading and safety procedures.
  • Ability to recognize when a boat or component may not be ready for shipment and communicate concerns.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work a consistent manufacturing schedule.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Chocowinity, North Carolina.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous boat assembly or boat manufacturing experience.
  • Previous experience working with finished boats.
  • Experience loading boats, RVs, vehicles, equipment, or other large finished products.
  • Experience working around large transport trailers.
  • Experience using tow equipment or other material-handling equipment.
  • Experience securing products for transportation.
  • Familiarity with common hand and power tools.
  • Marine, automotive, RV, powersports, or durable-goods manufacturing experience.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on position working in manufacturing, finished-boat staging, loading, and outdoor yard areas.

  • Regular exposure to boats, trailers, moving equipment, manufacturing noise, and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in heat, cold, humidity, and other weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, reach, climb, push, pull, and perform repetitive physical activities.
  • Ability to safely climb onto and work around boats and transport trailers.
  • Ability to lift, carry, position, and move tools, equipment, materials, and boat-related components as required.
  • Must wear required PPE and follow all company safety procedures.
