Job Description
Boater’s World Manufacturing Group is seeking a skilled Woodshop Operator to join our boat manufacturing operation in Chocowinity, North Carolina.
The Woodshop Operator is responsible for measuring, cutting, shaping, drilling, routing, assembling, and preparing wood and related materials used throughout the boat manufacturing process. This position requires strong attention to measurements, quality, and workmanship while safely operating a variety of woodworking tools and equipment.
Previous boat manufacturing experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with transferable experience in cabinetry, carpentry, furniture manufacturing, millwork, construction, RV manufacturing, or other woodworking environments are encouraged to apply.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Measure, mark, cut, shape, drill, route, sand, and prepare wood and related materials according to production specifications
- Operate saws, routers, drills, sanders, and other woodworking tools and equipment
- Build and assemble wood components used throughout the boat manufacturing process
- Follow drawings, templates, measurements, patterns, and work instructions to produce components accurately
- Verify dimensions and fit before components move to the next stage of production
- Perform trimming, fitting, sanding, and finishing work as required
- Use tape measures, squares, gauges, and other measuring tools accurately
- Inspect completed components for proper dimensions, fit, finish, and overall workmanship
- Identify damaged materials, incorrect measurements, or other quality concerns before installation
- Make adjustments or corrections to components when appropriate
- Assist with jigs, templates, fixtures, and other production aids used within the Woodshop
- Maintain established production expectations while maintaining quality standards
- Coordinate with Assembly, Upholstery, Engineering, Quality, and other production departments as needed
- Properly handle and store wood, hardware, adhesives, and other production materials
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition and report equipment concerns
- Keep the Woodshop clean, organized, and free of unnecessary material and debris
- Follow all company safety, quality, and production procedures
- Previous woodworking, carpentry, cabinetry, millwork, construction, manufacturing, or similar hands-on experience preferred
- Experience safely operating saws, routers, drills, sanders, and other woodworking equipment
- Ability to accurately use a tape measure and other measuring tools
- Ability to follow drawings, templates, measurements, and written work instructions
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to identify fit, measurement, and material-quality concerns
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
- Dependable attendance and ability to maintain a consistent manufacturing schedule
- Ability to follow safety procedures and properly use required PPE
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Chocowinity, North Carolina
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Previous boat or marine manufacturing experience
- Cabinetry or cabinet manufacturing
- Furniture manufacturing or assembly
- Carpentry or finish carpentry
- Millwork or custom woodworking
- RV, automotive, or other durable-goods manufacturing
- Experience working from templates, drawings, or production specifications
- Experience building components requiring precise measurements and fitment
- Experience with jigs, fixtures, routers, saws, and production woodworking equipment
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work is performed in an active boat manufacturing environment
- Regular exposure to wood dust, manufacturing noise, tools, equipment, adhesives, and varying temperatures
- Ability to stand and work for extended periods
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, crouch, and perform repetitive movements
- Ability to safely operate woodworking and production equipment
- Ability to lift, carry, position, and move materials and components as required by the position
- Must wear required PPE and follow all facility safety procedures
