Description:

The Medical Receptionist is responsible for ensuring patients are received in a friendly manner as well as managing administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, entering demographic and insurance, and collecting patient copays and balances due. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for accurate and timely performance of a variety of administrative tasks while serving a high volume of patients.

The Medical Receptionist’s essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Greet patients and visitors as they arrive.
  • Check in patients for appointments.
  • Validate demographic and insurance data at each visit.
  • Run electronic benefits eligibility prior to each visit though payer portals.
  • Obtain signed consents on all required documents.
  • Collect patient payments and copays.
  • Explain financial obligations to patients or other responsible parties.
  • Schedule appointments and manage provider schedules.
  • Confirm patient appointments to reduce no-shows and cancelations.
  • Preregister patients for appointments.
  • Confirm insurance coverage for upcoming appointments.
  • Promptly and professionally answer phone calls and direct calls to appropriate staff.
  • Schedule appointments to comply with payor contracts.
  • New patients and new problems must be seen by physicians for commercial payers.
  • Confirm Medicaid patients have visits remaining for patient visit.
  • Ensure the front desk is always attended during office hours and until the last patient leaves the practice.
  • Timely reschedule cancellations and no-shows. Work previous appointments spreadsheets to reschedule appointments.
  • Reconcile payments collected at the end of each day.
  • Punctuality and attendance in the practice is required.

This is a full-time onsite position.

Requirements:

Experience:

  • Medical Receptionist: 2 years (Required)
  • EMR experience: 1 year (Required).

License/Certification:

  • Certificate of Patient Account Representative (CPAR) (Preferred)
