At Merrimack Health, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary range is $41.05 to $61.57 hourly, excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses.
Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.
JOB PURPOSE: The Payroll Supervisor ensures accurate, timely payroll processing while overseeing payroll staff, maintaining compliance, and improving payroll operations. This role blends leadership, technical payroll expertise, and cross‑department collaboration.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate all activities necessary to process multiple weekly and bi-weekly payrolls on a timely basis to ensure employees are paid correctly.
- Review and audit timekeeping records for compliance with established standards.
- Manage weekly payroll package, review, ensure payments are made timely.
- Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating Hospital wide policies related to Payroll and Time and Attendance functions.
- Ensures Payroll and Time and Attendance functions in compliance with all Federal and State regulations and makes necessary changes with any new or modified legislation.
- Attend Department of Labor seminars to stay up to date with pending regulations and enforcement.
- Manage and mentor payroll staff.
- Perform periodic audits of timecard and payroll data.
- Review and validate information provided by Human Resources to be processed in payroll.
- General reporting as needed from Time and Attendance system.
- Maintain payroll files for all employees
- Troubleshoot all issues regarding Payroll
- Assist or train managers on reporting if needed.
- Manager is responsible for the payment of wages in accordance with FLSA and other Federal or State regulations
- All other related duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE:
- Required:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration / Management or a minimum of 10+ years’ experience in payroll or 5+ years’ experience in payroll as a manager or supervisor, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Experience using 3rd party time and attendance systems.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and strong Microsoft Word skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Must be extremely well organized and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines.
