The Land Partnerships Associate / Senior Associate will be responsible for sourcing and developing land opportunities, building trusted relationships with stakeholders, and supporting the growth of sustainable land projects. This role requires strong communication skills, ownership, and the ability to manage partnership development from initial outreach through final agreements.
- Identify and evaluate land parcels that meet project criteria using research tools, screening processes, and market knowledge.
- Build relationships with private landowners, land trusts, nonprofits, corporations, government agencies, tribal nations, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct outreach, qualify opportunities, and develop a strong pipeline of potential land partnerships.
- Prepare and present partnership proposals, project materials, and supporting documentation.
- Address landowner questions, support due diligence activities, and guide negotiations toward successful agreements.
- Lead deal discussions and contribute to closing partnership opportunities.
- Travel as needed to support land engagement activities and partnership development.
- Develop and maintain relationships with land advisors, regional experts, industry organizations, and relevant community groups.
- Continuously improve land qualification, outreach, and partnership processes through feedback and market insights.
- Collaborate with internal teams including forestry, finance, supply chain, legal, GIS, and commercial teams to develop practical project solutions.
- Work effectively in a remote environment while maintaining strong communication and collaboration across teams.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in land acquisition, land management, business development, sales, or related fields, with a proven ability to create partnerships and negotiate agreements. They should be comfortable managing complex conversations, working independently, and building trust with diverse stakeholders.
- 5+ years of experience in land management, land acquisition, agricultural leasing, business development, sales, or a related field with demonstrated success.
- Proven ability to build relationships, conduct outreach, and manage advanced negotiations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts and align diverse stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and develop creative, mutually beneficial solutions.
- Ability and willingness to travel multiple times per month as needed.
- Must live within driving distance of, or be willing to relocate to, the Midwest, Southeast, or US Appalachian regions.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in natural resource management, environmental science, agriculture, economics, business, or a related discipline.
- Experience working in agriculture, forestry, farmland investment, planning, or land management is highly valued.
- Existing relationships with landowners, land advisors, or industry stakeholders are a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with mapping software, GIS data, or remote sensing tools is a plus.
- Competitive annual salary range of $80,000 – $95,000.
