About This Position

Description:

Lehigh Valley Imaging is currently hiring a full-time, first-shift X-ray Technologist for our busy outpatient center located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The hours for this position are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with a Saturday morning rotation. Come join our team! Job Summary:

Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures of designated anatomy as requested by referring physicians in accordance with proper operational protocols.

Requirements:

Duties:

Communicates clinical observations during the radiologic examination to radiologist. Presents clinical documentation to radiologist.

Operates diagnostic imaging equipment for data acquisition, reconstruction of images, and documentation of images, and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.

Adheres to the guidelines of radiation protection and infection control safety for patient and technologist.

Prepares oral contrast or intra articular contrast as prescribed under the direction of a radiologist.

Performs imaging delivery to the PACS system and has the knowledge and ability to burn images onto a disc for patients/referring providers as needed.

Assists physicians and physician assistants when necessary.

Assists in the education and training of new employees, students and ancillary personnel.

Uses appropriate technical factors, collimation, lead shielding and SID for optimal image quality.

Properly identifies patient and correct imaging exam to perform diagnostic radiographic services for patient.

Maintains cleanliness in designated work areas.

Provides excellent patient care, comfort and understanding at all times.

Provides educational information to the patient regarding diagnostic examinations.

Assists in gathering and recording data for quality improvement.

Keeps office equipment in good working order and maintains inventory of supplies; stocking supplies as needed.

Adheres to downtime procedures to ensure appropriate information is available, patient care remains continuous and proper parties are notified, as needed.

Maintains responsibility for own professional development through active participation in in-services or continuing education.

Abides by all departmental policies, including safety, attendance and dress code.

Consistently displays PRIDE/Core behaviors and represents LVI in a positive manner.

Required Skills:

Basic computer and telephone skills required.

Excellent customer service skills.

Ability to deal effectively and ethically with confidential medical information related to patients, families and physicians.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Education and Experience:

High school graduate or equivalent required.

Graduate from approved School of Radiology.

ARRT registered.

Three months staff technologist experience preferred.

BLS required upon hire.

Customer service experience required.

Knowledge of medical terminology required.
