Job Overview:
The Radiologic Technologist position performs proper radiographic procedures as required by physician orders. Provides patient service using diagnostic, portable, and fluoroscopic equipment. The Radiologic Technologist is competent in the production of quality radiographs for proper treatment and diagnosis by physicians.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred:
- Experience performing diagnostic radiography
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- BLS Certification approved by the American Heart Association
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiographic Technologist license
- New Jersey state license
Scheduling Requirements:
- Night shift
- At least (1) holiday shift per year
- Two (2) weekend shifts/months as needed by the department (between 11pm Friday and 8am Monday)
- Two (2) overnight shifts/year as needed by department
- On call rotation
- Per Diem
Essential Functions:
- Performs surgical and portable examinations as assigned
- Performs and/or assists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures
- Prepares and maintains room and assures emergency supplies are intact
- Instructs radiology students according to clinical and didactic requirements
- Assists in the orientation of department and hospital personnel, as appropriate
- Performs visual checks on equipment and reports findings to appropriate personnel
- Performs all routine radiographic procedures and views according to the department procedure manual
- Identifies problems and communicates with immediate supervisor/charge staff, offers solutions as appropriate
- Adjusts technical factors in proportion to the patient and body part being examined, while minimizing radiation
- Participate in the teaching/preparation of patients/families as appropriate and according to age-specific guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
