About the Fellowship:
BioGenerator Ventures, the investment arm of BioSTL, is seeking multiple qualified candidates to join our team as Venture Fellows. BioGenerator Ventures creates, builds, and invests in companies that are solving important problems in human health and agriculture.
The Venture Fellow role is designed to train individuals interested in entrepreneurial leadership roles. Venture Fellows will complete a curriculum that includes training sessions led by industry professionals, mentorship by entrepreneurial leaders, and due diligence and deal transaction work with the BioGenerator Ventures investment team. The goal of this fellowship is to transition into a leadership role in an early-stage bioscience company within two years.
This fellowship is supported by a grant advancing economic mobility in life sciences entrepreneurship. We strongly encourage applications from individuals who have personally navigated economic barriers, systemic inequities, or underrepresentation in science.
Fellowship Responsibilities:
- Participating in and completing all workshops, short courses, and seminars included in the curriculum
- Meeting with industry professionals and experts in areas relevant to the fellow's target industry
- Working with the investment team to execute due diligence projects and deal transactions
- Providing analysis of potential investments including written and oral recommendations
- Regular meetings with the Program Manager to discuss curriculum content and overall progress toward program goals
- Engaging with the community to discuss the entrepreneurial path and experience as a Venture Fellow
- Commitment to founding or joining a bioscience company in St. Louis at the end of the fellowship
- Conducting market, industry, and competitive landscape analyses to support venture creation and investment decisions
- Supporting customer discovery and validation efforts, including research and synthesis of customer insights
- Translating scientific, technical, and market research into clear, actionable insights for internal stakeholders and entrepreneurs
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- PhD in the life sciences or a masters degree (MS/MBA) with demonstrated venture capital, entrepreneurial, or startup experience in the life sciences. Candidates who do not hold an advanced degree but have equivalent experience are also encouraged to apply.
- Deep understanding of life science technology with an emphasis on applied and commercial applications
- Highest personal integrity

- Demonstrated track record of independent analytical thinking and successful multi-tasking
- Ability to excel in a team setting and independently
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with diverse constituents (investors, inventors, faculty, entrepreneurs)
- Can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines promptly and efficiently
- Ability to dissect and understand complex scientific and business issues
- Management of internal and external resources across multiple simultaneous projects
- Ability to synthesize complex scientific, technical, and business information into clear narratives for diverse audiences
- Comfort presenting research, analysis, and ideas to senior stakeholders and interview panels
Compensation:
Annual Stipend Range: $90,000 - $115,000
Fellowship Duration: 2 Years
