THE ROLE
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Project Manager will have at least 5 years of field experience in a technical capacity as well as at least 3 years in a Project Manager capacity in either Civil or Forestry. We are seeking a technically experienced person who can build relationships with our field staff and clients. With projects ranging from 1 to 24 months, the successful candidate will be able to handle competing priorities and change direction quickly as they will be handling multiple projects and commitments.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Oversee complete project scope and ensure the work is being conducted in accordance with client
specifications and Backwoods standards.
• Ensure high level of safety, environment and quality is maintained during the execution of the work.
• Monitor project performance, including schedule, cost, equipment, manpower, materials and HSE.
• Interface with client, subcontractors, engineers, project team and corporate team.
• HSE management including site tours, inspections monitoring and reporting both internally and on the client level.
• Quality management including compiling and monitoring ITP, progressive turnover, re-work tracking and project closeout.
• Change management, including identification of change, creation/execution of estimates and change order requests.
• Project controls including monitoring and reporting both internally and on the client level. Includes cost analysis/tracking and schedule performance/updating/tracking.
• Financial reporting, including cost reporting and project performance reporting.
• Mentor/coach project team; and
• Additional and alternative duties that may be changed from time-to-time by the Employer.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• 3-years of previous project management experience in the heavy civil industrial construction discipline.
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree from a recognized engineering/project management program or equivalent.
• Previous experience in Civil Forestry and Pipeline is an asset
• Ability to travel 50% of the time across Alberta, with the other 50% in Edmonton head office.
• Experience in all phases of project execution from estimate to closeout.
• In depth knowledge of heavy civil construction execution and methodology.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to compile reports for internal and client review.
• Ability to complete/understand financial reports and ability to explain report data to corporate team.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
