This role offers a unique blend of clinical insight, analytical thinking, and human-centered case management, supporting individuals across Canada throughout their illness, recovery, and return-to-work journey. You will manage disability and absence cases with a strong focus on outcomes, balancing empathy with structured decision-making. The work goes beyond administrative processing, requiring you to assess medical, functional, vocational, and psychosocial factors to develop meaningful recovery and return-to-work strategies. You will collaborate closely with clients, healthcare providers, employers, and internal specialists to ensure coordinated and sustainable outcomes. Operating in a fully remote environment, you will play a key role in helping individuals regain autonomy and dignity while contributing to effective claims and absence management. This is a highly impactful role where emotional intelligence and critical thinking come together to make a real difference.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing disability and absence cases efficiently while ensuring high-quality, empathetic, and compliant decision-making throughout the process.
- Manage assigned disability and absence files proactively while respecting service standards and deadlines.
- Handle daily administrative tasks, including responding to emails and phone calls within required timelines.
- Assess claims based on contractual, medical, and occupational criteria.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with plan sponsors, participants, healthcare providers, and internal specialists to support return-to-work outcomes.
- Draft clear and accurate correspondence explaining decisions and coverage information using strong analytical reasoning.
- Demonstrate empathy, resilience, and emotional intelligence when communicating sensitive or complex claim decisions.
- Collaborate with rehabilitation consultants and medical advisors to support sustainable recovery and workplace reintegration strategies.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical abilities with healthcare or insurance experience and a deep sense of empathy in client-facing situations.
- Fully bilingual in French and English, with the ability to communicate effectively across Canada.
- Post-secondary education in a healthcare-related field or equivalent professional experience considered an asset.
- Experience or familiarity with disability case management or group insurance is an advantage.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Comfortable handling inbound and outbound calls in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Ability to assess complex situations involving medical, functional, and psychosocial factors.
- Strong written communication skills for formal correspondence and case documentation.
- Ability to remain composed and compassionate when delivering difficult decisions.
- Competitive salary range: $52,650 – $87,750 CAD annually
