This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape healthcare access strategies and improve patient access to innovative therapies across one of Canada’s largest healthcare markets. The successful candidate will lead high-impact initiatives focused on reimbursement, policy engagement, stakeholder partnerships, and market access excellence. - Develop and execute provincial market access strategies to accelerate patient access to innovative medicines and advanced therapies.
- Build and strengthen relationships with public payers, government stakeholders, healthcare organizations, and policy influencers.
- Lead complex reimbursement discussions, negotiations, and innovative access agreements that support sustainable healthcare outcomes.
- Align market access initiatives with product launch plans, healthcare trends, policy developments, and stakeholder insights.
- Monitor access performance, identify emerging opportunities or risks, and adjust strategies to maximize impact.
- Provide strategic guidance on reimbursement environments, policy changes, and healthcare system dynamics.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing field access team while fostering succession planning and capability growth.
- Collaborate closely with commercial, medical, policy, and cross-functional partners to ensure integrated execution of access objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen access capabilities, stakeholder engagement, and organizational effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Life Sciences, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Significant experience in market access, government affairs, healthcare policy, reimbursement, or related functions within the healthcare or pharmaceutical sector.
- Strong understanding of the Canadian healthcare system, reimbursement processes, public payer environments, and policy frameworks.
- Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams and developing talent in complex organizational settings.
- Proven ability to manage senior stakeholder relationships and influence decision-making across diverse groups.
- Experience negotiating complex agreements and navigating highly regulated healthcare environments.
- Strong business acumen combined with scientific understanding and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to balance long-term strategic planning with effective execution and operational delivery.
- Experience in health technology assessment (HTA), health economics, policy development, sales leadership, or strategic account management is considered an asset.
