About This Position
Job Summary:
The Accounting Associate position is primarily responsible for the timely processing of day-to-day operational transactions including, but not limited to, agency bill invoicing, client payment receipts and deposits, direct bill commission processing, and carrier and vendor payables. This position will also perform complex clerical, bookkeeping, and accounting assignments as needed. The Accounting Associate performs the essential functions of the position noted below, while meeting the quality and service standards developed by the agency.
Essential Functions:
Process and post the following:
- Direct bill commission statements
- Agency bill invoices
- Direct bill commission receipts
- Direct bill commission statement retrieval
- Client payment receipts
- Producer commission payable
Essential Functions continued:
- Communicate with the client services team and account managers to resolve direct bill issues.
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, including direct bill commissions, payables, etc.
- Research and resolves any issues that might be uncovered by reconciliations.
- Escalate unresolved items to supervisor per pre-determined aging timeline.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- May be required to work additional hours during month-end reporting to meet company deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to interpret abstract information.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and achieve results in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Confident, self-starter who works well independently.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and multi-task.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associates degree in finance or accounting preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years accounting experience required, preferably in a shared services accounting environment.
- Previous experience with an Insurance Brokerage preferred.
Physical Requirements:

- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. The employee frequently is required to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, listen and observe. Specifically, the employee must be able to communicate clearly on the telephone with others.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. This includes repeating motions that involve the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Position may require the employee to ascend and/or descend ladders, stairs, ramps, and the like.
- High stress, fast-paced environment with a high volume of work to be completed daily.
- Limited physical effort required or exposure to physical risk. However, must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
