Part-Time IT Support Technician in Wilmington, North Carolina at PolyHose Inc

Polyhose Inc. is seeking a part-time IT Support Technician to help maintain our computers, software, and network systems. This position combines hands-on troubleshooting with day-to-day technical support for employees.

We welcome current students and recent graduates with relevant coursework, practical technical skills, and a willingness to learn.

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
• Set up and maintain printers, scanners, and multifunction devices.
• Install and update operating systems and software, including managing licenses.
• Diagnose hardware issues and coordinate repairs or replacements with vendors.
• Troubleshoot wired and wireless connectivity issues and support VPN access.
• Support network switches, including ports, VLANs, and Power over Ethernet (PoE).
• Assist with firewall configuration, rules, and security policies.
• Monitor network devices and respond to alerts and connectivity outages.
• Support backups, endpoint protection, and software updates as needed.

• Currently pursuing or have completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting computers, software, and peripherals through coursework, projects, internships, or employment.
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and IP addressing.
• Familiarity with wired and wireless networks, VPNs, firewalls, and switches.
• Ability to explain technical issues clearly and provide patient, professional support.
• Dependability, attention to detail, and willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks.

Preferred: Familiarity with cloud-managed networking, backups, antivirus/endpoint protection, and patch management.
