Job Description

Human Resources Generalist, People and Culture

The Human Resources Generalist directly reports to the Senior Manager, Human Resources, ensuring that all HR initiative s are aligned with the organization's objectives and that there is clear communication within the team. The Senior Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing various HR processes, including employee onboarding and orientation, records management, biweekly employee maintenance , and special projects that support the success of the HR department. This position requires a strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and best practices, as well as the ability to build effective relationships across the organization. This is a full-time position.


Primary Responsibilities:
  • Onboarding of new employees, including coordinating with hiring manager s, setting up new hires with appropriate Citi training, occupational health visits, reviewing benefits, explaining timecard procedures to new hires, and issuing keys and employee IDs.
  • Handling academic appointments and offering letters for roles below senior leadership.
  • Guide hiring leaders through the hiring process by providing procedures, processing the employee requisition form, confirming funding , obtaining signatures, and posting open positions internally and on external websites.
  • Maintain personnel records, including but not limited to I-9 electronic employment authorizations , personal data, degree information, checklists, and uploading any employee documentation to their electronic personnel file in ADP.
  • Provide support and administration for Monell Science Apprenticeship Program (MSAP).
  • Coordinate background checks for all personnel in contact with minors.
  • Provide support for employee learning and development initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and growth.
  • Coordination of annual holiday events and HR-sponsored FIK.As (monthly)
  • Coordination and planning of the annual Employee Service Awards Event
  • Assistance with other Monell events, as needed
  • Organize and manage Monell's keys
    • Initiate lock changes due to security or safety concerns.
    • Assist the space committee in room changes by creating and maintaining a space change log with a checklist of actions to track key returns due and directory updates .
  • Coordinate personn el departures/terminations - schedule exit interviews and provide offboarding checklist and required tasks to supervisor.
  • Assist employees in gaining Penn-Key access , Penn-Cards, and troubleshoot access issues.
  • Assist employees and volunteers in understanding Monell's policies.
  • Stay informed about ADP updates and new features.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the Human Resources department.
  • Answer frequently asked questions from employees, former employees, and applicants regarding HR policies and procedures, benefits, and other job-related matters. Refers more complex inquiries to appropriate senior staff.
  • Stay informed about updates in federal, state, and local laws related to Human Resources.
  • Process employment verification requests.
