The position of Senior Accountant will work closely with the Controller, Finance Team, and Operations to reconcile accounts, assist in the month end close process, assist in preparation of monthly financial statements, maintain controls and improve cost tracking across the organization to support the greater business and stakeholders. Experience streamlining accounting processes and having an investigative mindset will be critical to being successful in this role.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare journal entries with supporting documentation
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for accounts and work with accounting and operations teams to resolve discrepancies
  • Collaborate with Operations to carry out cycle count process of supply inventory and remnant inventory
  • Responsible for recording fixed asset acquisitions, disposals and calculation of depreciation & amortization each month along with CIP projects for capital expenditures
  • Allocate intercompany costs across business units for timely invoicing and payment
  • Reconciliation of WIP and close projects in Epicor ERP system based on completion status updates from Operations
  • Update accounts receivable tracking, account status updates, and assist with collections when necessary
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process to ensure timely delivery of financials
  • Validate costs of goods sold by project and recognize revenue in ERP system based on ETC/EAC progress reconciling to monthly percent of completion schedule according to ASC 606
  • Update right-of-use asset and lease liability schedules for lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842
  • Collaborate with IT, Purchasing, Operations, Planning, Contracts, etc. to tackle emerging issues and transactions for proper accounting in ERP system
  • Assist the Controller with implementation and monitoring of internal controls for continual improvement and to support audit readiness and compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with the broader Finance team to improve cost tracking by department
  • Provide support for ad-hoc requests and broaden company initiatives as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • Experience in project-based manufacturing; ideally in aerospace, defense or other government contracting environments
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
  • Experience with GAAP financials
  • Experience with job costing and percent complete revenue recognition.
  • Skilled in ERP systems and financial tools; intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Holds an ability to be involved and curious by spending time on the shop floor to understand the business in greater detail; seeks to make improvements and strengthen partnerships through relationships and comprehension
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/ year-end close process.
  • Skilled in ERP systems and financial tools; advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Experience working with large volumes of data and close attention to detail required.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Must be well-versed in understanding core business needs and prioritizing conflicting demands while driving financial processes for business optimization.
  • Ability to recognize leadership across the organization and provide mentorship for professional growth.
  • Self-starter with the ability to pivot and successfully adapt in a constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure within a complex, high growth organization.
  • Ability to be involved and curious by spending time on the shop floor to understand the business in greater detail; seeks to make improvements and strengthen partnerships through relationships and comprehension.

Work Conditions

  • 40-hour onsite work week
  • Hours outside of a normal working day may be required to meet project deadlines or respond to system incidents.
  • Ability to work occasionally in manufacturing shop floor conditions.

  • This position requires the use of information or access to hardware subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons as defined by ITAR.
