About This Position

BASIC JOB PURPOSE: Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Technology Operations, the Data/Financial Analyst is responsible for updating, maintaining, and creating new operational reports utilizing Excel, Access, and SQL commands. The analyst proactively monitors trends in the data and provides feedback to the leadership team. The role’s success is dependent on the following skills: high levels of accuracy, analytical thinking, and ability to handle/organize large, complex sets of data.

RESPONSIBILITES/DUTIES:

  1. Maintains and updates data repositories weekly with accurately audited data.
  2. Creates new reports using complex formulas via Excel, Access, and SQL commands.
  3. Documents step-by-step Policy and Procedures for running, distributing, and storing scheduled reports and data.
  4. Writes advanced SQL queries and creates SQL Views
  5. Create Stored Procedures.
  6. Runs daily, weekly, and monthly ad hoc reports.
  7. Distributes daily, weekly, and monthly ad hoc reports with an analysis summary report of recommendations based on data trends.
  8. Archives reports, data, and builds in accordance with archiving policies.
  9. Assists in writing policies where data is impacted within the organization on an as-need basis.
  10. Provides feedback from a data-focused perspective when sitting in Software Development calls.
  11. Analyzes databases by providing documentation on database structures and table relationships.
  12. Commissions and decommissions data sets.
  13. Manages the data integrity of our in-house proprietary system, ad hoc databases, spreadsheets, and any other form of data repository or archive.
  14. Provides reviews of interdepartmental impacts by pulling from a variety of data sources.
  15. Creates and edits Reports using the Student Risk Screening Scale (SRSS).
  16. Responsible for all aspects of vendor payments, including payment reconciliation and month end payment for the ad hoc reporting package.
  17. Maintains high levels of accuracy with all aspects of the position.
  18. Notifies leadership immediately of all injuries, accidents, perceived/actual HIPAA breaches, and/or unusual incidents.
  19. Performs all other duties assigned by management.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  1. Must pass a Criminal Background Screening.
  2. Must pass government exclusion list at time of hire and monthly thereafter.
  3. Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Mathematics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or relevant academic field preferred.
  4. 2 years of work experience as Data/Financial Analyst or relevant degree required.
  5. Advanced experience using PC software programs including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and SQL Server Management Studio.
  6. Advanced knowledge of Excel formula design and SQL coding.
  7. Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational database structures.
  8. Strong analytical skills when informing software solution recommendations based on existing tools and databases.
  9. Ability to translate business jargon into non-technical lay terms for business professionals.
  10. Strong written/verbal communication skills when working independently or with a team.
  11. Demonstrates adaptability, problem-solving skills, time management, and high-level organizational skills.
  12. Experience writing Policies and Procedures.
  13. Able to type at least 45 wpm.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: The typical working condition for this position is on-site in an indoor office environment with controlled climate, lighting, and noise levels. The job may require extended periods of sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, and/or lifting of at least 25 lbs. The use of a computer or other office equipment(s) is also a requirement. Some evening, weekend, and/or holiday work and light travel may be necessary.
