Wages

$17.00 per hour

Schedule

This is a regular, part-time position that will work between 5-25 hours per week. Flexible scheduling is available, but candidates must have availability between 5:45am - 5:00pm.

Job Summary

Join V3 Sports as a Lifeguard to help maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-supervised environment at the community center’s indoor pool. This role monitors pool activities, enforces safety rules, responds quickly and effectively to emergencies, and provides courteous assistance to patrons of all ages and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Actively monitor pool and deck areas to ensure the safety of all patrons.
  • Enforce pool rules, policies, and safety standards consistently and respectfully.
  • Recognize and respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies, including water rescues and first aid situations.
  • Administer first aid, CPR, AED, and other emergency care as trained.
  • Maintain constant visual surveillance of swimmers and pool surroundings.
  • Prevent unsafe behaviors through proactive scanning, rule enforcement, and member education.
  • Assist members with questions related to pool use, programs, and safety expectations.
  • Support daily pool operations, including opening and closing procedures as assigned.
  • Maintain a calm and inclusive presence that promotes a welcoming community environment.
  • Conduct safety checks of pool areas, equipment, and facilities before and during shifts.
  • Follow and complete cleaning and secondary duties checklists, including locker room cleanup and laundry.
  • Set up and tear down equipment for lessons and groups.
  • Complete and document chemical checks as required.
  • Complete shift reports for each shift.
  • Report incidents, injuries, and equipment issues promptly and accurately and complete associated documentation.
  • Attend in-services, meetings, and other trainings as required to maintain certifications, credentials, and active employment.

What You Bring

  • The ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English for safety and emergency response purposes.
  • Previous experience working in a nonprofit setting is preferred.
  • Previous lifeguarding experience is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience working with youth, families, or diverse community populations is preferred.
  • Previous customer service or public-facing experience is preferred.
  • The ability to remain alert for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to respond calmly and decisively in emergency situations.
  • The ability to maintain positive working relationships with coworkers and the public while using good judgment and recognizing the scope of authority.
  • The ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • You have the ability to lift and move up to 25-50 pounds to support lifeguard tasks, and are able to stand, walk and bend for shifts. The setting for this position is in a pool where it is slippery, wet, and contains humid conditions.
  • A current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is preferred; If you do not have a current one, it must be completed/obtained before completing a shift.
  • You are able and willing to maintain current CPR, First Aid, AED, and BBP certifications. (For new hires, training will be provided during onboarding.)
