About This Position
OB SUMMARY
The C irculating Registered Nurse is responsible for:
C oordinating unit workflow and setting priorities in an effort to ensure efficient unit operations in a safe and cost effective manner.
Planning, executing, and evaluation of the intraoperative process.
Working in collaboration with the PAC U department in regards to the patient’s pre-operative and post-operative process.
Working in collaboration with the Sterile Processing Department.
Providing optimal, safe and effective nursing care utilizing the nursing process in accordance with policies and procedures of the
hospital, and professional nursing standards.
Demonstrating critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the planning of patient care.
C ompleting documentation requirements as indicated.
EDUCATION
Graduate of school of nursing.
Initial and continuing education as listed in educational guidelines.
LICENSURE
C urrently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of West Virginia.
EXPERIENCE
One to three years of hospital experience in surgical setting preferred.
CERTIFICATION
Healthcare BLS validation required within 60 days of employment, with revalidation per AHA guidelines.
AC LS and PALS preferred.

JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to successfully complete established competencies for the position within designated probationary period; extended probationary
period may be acceptable upon a case by case basis after consultation with Human Resources and the VP of Nursing Services.
Participates in all required educational and competency offerings related to safety, including patient safety activities. Agrees to abide by the
Saint Francis Hospital implementation plans for the Joint C ommission National Patient Safety Goals. Provides feedback concerning any patient
safety issues identified within the hospital.
HOURS OF WORK
Must be able to work scheduled hours as dictated by business needs including flexing up and down to volume demand.
Normal hours of work will be determined by Director. Hours of work vary based on shifts and department. Additional time may include on call,
weekends, nights, holidays and overtime. Must be able to flex as dictated by Surgical Services Director. In the event of a natural disaster or
emergency, employee may be called in as per hospital policy.
