Along with supporting the Sales, Project Management, and Purchasing teams, this candidate will oversee the costing portion of our process from bid to production. This individual can lead with autonomy by preparing bid proposals for presentation, meeting client requirements, and providing recommendations for cost optimization. This individual is focused on quality and cost, with exemplary attention to detail while possessing the ability to communicate well and on time.
An understanding of seating and furniture is required.
This is an on site, non-hybrid role.
Responsibilities:
- Receive bid package breakdowns from the Estimate Coordinator and interpret project specifications and requirements to prepare accurate cost estimates
- Distribute bid packages to vendors including the requested material/item and quantities based on project need
- Ensure all necessary information is included for accurate responses
- Calculate and provide justifiable cost estimates for custom furniture and materials based on project requirements and material market conditions
- Perform detailed material take-offs to determine the quantities and specifications needed for purchase
- Monitor and follow up with suppliers to obtain quotes, ensuring timely responses and clear communication throughout the process
- Prepare unit price for Estimating Coordinator within agreed upon timeframe
- Maintain ongoing communication with suppliers to address inquiries, clarify specifications, and resolve issues as they arise
- Collaborate with Sales teams to align project budgets with margin markup
- Collaborate with Production Leaders, Purchasing, and Project Managers for any questions pertaining to costing and lead time
- Assess risks associated with supplier selection and material sourcing to mitigate potential issues during project execution
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in a furniture or store fixture manufacturing environment with estimating or design experience
- Proficiency in basic mathematical equations, furniture design, and construction
- Meticulous with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills including programs such as ERPs, Microsoft Office 365, Adobe
- Knowledge of the commercial furniture industry is an asset
Education:
Post Secondary Education in Furniture Making, Product Development, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field is required.
