About the Role:

The Accounting Clerk plays a vital role in maintaining the financial integrity and accuracy of our hospitality and tourism operations. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting tasks such as processing invoices, reconciling bank statements, and ensuring timely accounts payable transactions. The successful candidate will contribute to accurate job costing and accrual accounting, supporting the broader finance team in delivering precise financial reports. By maintaining organized and up-to-date financial records, the Accounting Clerk helps facilitate smooth audits and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
• Proven experience in bank reconciliation and accounts payable processing.
• Familiarity with journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the hospitality, tourism, or recreation industry.
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of job costing methodologies specific to service industries.
• Basic understanding of accrual accounting principles.
• Additional coursework or certification in accounting or finance.

Responsibilities:

• Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy between bank statements and company records.
• Process and verify invoices, ensuring proper coding and timely payment to vendors.
• Manage accounts payable activities, including tracking outstanding payments and resolving discrepancies.
• Assist in job costing by accurately allocating expenses to specific projects or departments.
• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate general ledger balances.
• Reconcile various accounts regularly to identify and correct discrepancies.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to support financial operations.
• Maintain organized financial documentation to support audits and internal controls.
• Assist with accrual accounting processes to ensure expenses and revenues are recorded in the correct periods.
