Through our Alternate Justice Centre, we deliver restorative, culturally grounded approaches that support healing, accountability, and reintegration for both youth and adults in conflict with the justice system.

Job Summary

The Justice Coordinator oversees all aspects of the Nak’azdli Alternate Justice Program, providing holistic justice services to both youth and adults involved in the criminal justice system. The Coordinator leads restorative justice practices, client programming, and community partnerships while ensuring alignment with culturally appropriate practices and provincial/federal justice frameworks.

Key ResponsibilitiesRestorative Justice & Program Delivery
  • Facilitate Restorative Justice Circles for youth and adults, ensuring cultural relevance and trauma-informed practices.
  • Design, coordinate, and deliver court-mandated and voluntary programs (e.g., Respectful Relationships, Anger Management, Substance Awareness).
  • Provide individualized support for clients with probation, bail, or alternative measures conditions.
  • Monitor compliance and submit progress reports to referral agencies, probation officers, or court officials.
Youth & Adult Justice System Liaison
  • Act as the primary liaison with Community Corrections, Youth Probation, RCMP, schools, and justice stakeholders.
  • Support clients and families through justice navigation, including court processes, referrals, and reintegration planning.
  • Promote diversion pathways for youth and support early intervention initiatives.
Community Engagement & Education
  • Deliver public education on restorative justice, community safety, and cultural healing practices.
  • Collaborate with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to integrate Indigenous teachings into justice responses.
  • Lead community awareness initiatives and youth prevention workshops.
Administration & Compliance
  • Manage program data, statistics, funding reports, and annual budgets.
  • Prepare grant proposals and meet all reporting requirements to funders.
  • Contribute to justice policy development and continuous program improvement.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Criminology, Indigenous Studies, Social Work, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in justice, restorative practices, or youth/adult services.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and knowledge of intergenerational trauma impacts.
  • Strong understanding of restorative justice models, trauma-informed care, and culturally safe practices.
  • Familiarity with court processes, correctional programs, and diversionary measures.
  • Excellent facilitation, documentation, and case management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, email, and report writing.
  • Emotional resilience and strong interpersonal skills when working in complex or high-stress situations.
