About This Position

Relationship Connector

Relationship Connectors at Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion (BACI) work with the people served and their caregivers to build networks by using an asset-based approach. The Relationship Connector identifies strengths and gifts, supporting people to find inclusive places while promoting and fostering meaningful relationships. The role works within a housing complex, supporting people with disabilities who live there with their caregivers to build relationships with one another and the people in the community.

Position: Regular Full-Time Relationship Connector

Location: Delta - Community Based

Salary: $27.54 per hour

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Schedule: Flexible Schedule Required

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to design and implement person-centred supports to facilitate positive relationships
  • Demonstrated skill and ability in coaching, training, and supporting people with developmental disabilities to identify and accomplish goals.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with people.
  • Considerable background in direct program delivery in the Community Living field.
  • Ability to engage, problem solve and be creative.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to be non-judgmental, respectful, and empathetic.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of Person-Centred Thinking, Asset Based Community Development and Trauma Informed Care.
  • Good organization and time management skills and the ability to work effectively with the people served, families and their network.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and/or weekends and evening. Working knowledge of computers and researching skills is required.
  • Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a university or Community College with a degree or diploma in Human Services. An equivalent of education and experience may be considered.
  • First Aid, CPR, TB clearance and a valid unrestricted Class 5 BC Driver’s license required. Use of personal vehicle required.
