Primary Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret title opinions, off-title searches, and related documentation, applying underwriting principles to process residential title insurance requestsInvestigate and resolve underwriting matters, including title and off-title issues, and support fraud mitigation by conducting risk assessments and determining insurabilityEvaluate risks associated with insuring real estate transactions according to company guidelinesProvide timely responses to clients and internal inquiries on common underwriting issues, offering guidance on the real estate process and title insurance coverage throughout CanadaManage a large volume of files efficiently, meeting tight deadlines and maintaining compliance with company standardsBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients by addressing inquiries and resolving any concernsRespond and manage client service calls through the underwriting phone queueUndertake other tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to the overall goals of the team and organization
Qualifications:
- Law Clerk designation from an accredited community collegeMinimum 5 years of residential real estate experience with a law firm or title insurance settingThorough knowledge of residential real estate practices, with a strong understanding of title issues and their resolutionFamiliarity with real estate fraud trends, recognition of fraud red flags, and experience with fraud mitigation toolsStrong ability to interpret and apply current legal terminologyExperienced self-starter with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environmentExcellent multi-tasking, organizational, and time management skills, including attention to detail and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlinesProven customer service experienceHighly professional with a customer service focusStrong analytical skills and the ability to problem-solve with minimal directionStrong written and verbal communication skillsFlexible team player who works well under pressure with minimal supervision to meet tight deadlinesAdvanced computer skills, including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, Teraview, Conveyancer, and eConveyanceWillingness and ability to work a 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm shiftAbility to work overtime
