This role is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of client-held funds across payroll, tax, and benefits accounts.
You will oversee daily reconciliations across multiple bank accounts and investigate discrepancies to keep financial records complete and reliable.
The position offers the opportunity to work closely with banking partners and internal teams to resolve exceptions and improve processes.
You will monitor cash activity, validate transactions, and ensure collections and remittances are recorded and cleared on time.

- Perform daily bank reconciliations for payroll, tax, and benefits accounts, validating deposits, withdrawals, and other financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements, cash balances, and outstanding items, making appropriate cash adjustments based on reporting.
- Monitor daily and weekly cash balances by client and across the overall client base to ensure timely remittances, accurate collections, and proper clearing of funds.
- Reconcile incoming wires and ACH transactions for payroll and tax accounts, as well as client credits and other client-held funds.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify and resolve system issues, coordinate corrections, and address payroll, tax, and benefits exceptions.
- Work directly with banking partners regarding returned items, inquiries, and other account-related matters.
- Provide payment confirmations and supporting documentation to relevant tax and finance teams and assist with monthly financial reconciliations.
- Monitor team email accounts and ensure client-funds-related inquiries receive timely and accurate responses.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, contribute to updated procedures, and support initiatives designed to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with new business initiatives and other accounting or client-funds projects as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 2–5+ years of experience in payroll services, banking operations, accounting, or a closely related environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience with MasterTax, WEX, CobraPoint, or similar payroll and financial systems is a plus.
- Strong understanding of bank reconciliations, cash activity, financial transactions, and discrepancy resolution.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and integrity when handling financial information.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple systems, transactions, and priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external banking partners.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Access.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced setting and adapting to changing priorities and business needs.
- Ability to work remotely five days per week during designated business hours from a U.S.-based location.
- Ability to remain seated and work at a computer or workstation for extended periods, typically 7–8 hours per day, and operate computer, phone, and multiple software systems simultaneously.
- $20.00–$24.00 per hour base pay, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
