Job Description

Human Resources Generalist

The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day human resources functions for our fast-paced, multi-location restaurant operation. This role ensures effective delivery of HR services, including recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and benefits administration. The HR Generalist works closely with the Director of Human Resources, managers, and team members to foster a positive and compliant workplace culture that aligns with the company’s values and goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help manage end-to-end recruitment for hourly and salaried positions across FOH, BOH, Warehouse, Customer Service, and other operational areas.

  • Assist the HR Coordinator in partnering with managers to assess staffing needs and develop sourcing strategies tailored to each role.

  • Assist the HR Coordinator in creating and posting job openings on platforms such as Indeed, ADP, ZipRecruiter, LinkedIn, and other relevant channels.

  • Assist the HR Coordinator screen resumes, conduct phone interviews, and assess candidate qualifications against job requirements and internal wage structures.

  • Assist in coordinating interviews with hiring managers, track candidate progress, and maintain communication with applicants.

  • Assist in conducting professional reference checks, verify employment history, and facilitate pre-employment screenings.

  • Assist in representing the company at job fairs, open interviews, and community outreach events.

  • Identify and develop new talent pipelines while supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

  • Assist the Human Resources Coordinator in new hire onboarding, including orientation, policy review, and completion of required documentation.

  • Introduce new hires to the company’s culture, values, and operational standards.

  • Collaborate with Training & Development to ensure new hires receive appropriate job-specific and compliance training.

  • Track and monitor training completion, certifications, and ongoing development needs.

  • Serve as a point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR policies, workplace concerns, and conflict resolution.

  • Support managers in addressing performance, attendance, and behavior issues in alignment with company policies.

  • Assist with investigations into complaints or workplace issues, documenting findings and escalating to the HR Director as needed.

  • Support employee engagement programs, recognition initiatives, and appreciation events to foster a positive work environment.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in HRIS and physical filing systems.

  • Process employment changes such as promotions, transfers, pay adjustments, and terminations.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.

  • Prepare HR reports and analytics to support decision-making.

  • Monitor compliance with required certifications, training, and licenses (e.g., food safety, alcohol service).

  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment, qualifying life events, and related questions.

  • Help coordinate open enrollment, ensuring timely and accurate benefits changes.

  • Support payroll processing by verifying accuracy of timecards, employment records, and pay changes.

  • Respond to payroll and benefits-related inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

  • Stay informed on labor laws and industry best practices, proactively addressing compliance risks.

  • Ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures across both Florida locations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership to support the overall success of the team and organization.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; or equivalent experience.

  • 2–4 years of HR experience, preferably in a hospitality, restaurant, or retail environment.

  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.

  • Experience with HRIS/payroll systems and proficiency with Google Suite.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and move between restaurant locations as needed.

  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
