About This Position
POSITION: Regular Part-Time Community Support Worker
LOCATION: Community Based - Burnaby
SALARY: $25.95/hour
HOURS: 23 hours/week
SCHEDULE: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday (9:30am-3:30pm) and Friday (10am-3pm)
Responsibilities:
- Support people in one-to-one settings.
- Ensuring that individuals are connected to friends and family.
- Providing individuals with the opportunity to make meaningful choices.
- Encouraging and recognizing individuals' contributions.
- Ensuring that individuals are safe and to promote their health and well-being.
- Assist individuals to gain knowledge and experiences to enhance their independence and/or ability to participate in their community.
- Accessing community centres, swimming 1-2 times per week, participating in outdoor activities.
Qualifications:
- The ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently is essential.
- Experience and specialized training related to autism, medical needs and/or challenging behaviours is an asset.
- Knowledge and ability to use alternative communication systems would be an asset.
- Knowledge of principles of Person-Centered Thinking and Planning preferred
- Working knowledge of computers/mobile apps is necessary.

Qualifications for this position include:
Graduation from a Community College with an appropriate diploma or certificate in Human Services OR an equivalent of education and experience. Current First Aid & CPR, TB screening. A valid unrestricted BC Class 5 Driver’s License and use of personal vehicle are required.
This position is open to all applicants, requires union membership, completion of Criminal Record Search as per the Criminal Record Review Act and up-to-date vaccinations.
