Director, Fund Administration (Accounting)

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director, Fund Administration (Accounting) in Canada.

This is a senior leadership opportunity within a fast-growing fund administration function supporting complex private markets clients. The role focuses on building, scaling, and leading high-performing fund accounting teams while ensuring best-in-class service delivery across fund administration operations. You will play a key part in shaping how modern fund accounting services are delivered, combining strong technical accounting expertise with operational leadership and client-facing responsibilities. The position sits at the intersection of finance, technology, and process optimization, with a strong emphasis on scalability, automation, and service excellence. You will lead both people and processes, driving performance, engagement, and continuous improvement across a growing organization. Acting as a senior escalation point, you will also ensure complex client and accounting issues are resolved with accuracy and professionalism. This role offers the opportunity to directly influence the evolution of a next-generation fund administration platform.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and scale fund accounting and fund administration teams, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
  • Oversee workforce planning, capacity management, and resource allocation in alignment with business growth
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality delivery of fund administration services across client portfolios
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex accounting issues and challenging client situations
  • Manage client relationships, ensuring strong service quality, satisfaction, and long-term partnership health
  • Oversee financial processes including invoicing, contract maintenance, and year-end audit coordination
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement as the function scales
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through process optimization, automation, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Partner with product, marketing, and investor services teams to scope and develop new service offerings
Requirements:
  • 12+ years of fund accounting experience across private equity, venture capital, real estate, or hedge fund environments
  • At least 5+ years of experience managing, hiring, and developing fund accounting or finance teams
  • Strong background in fund administration, with prior experience in a fund administrator environment required
  • Deep technical knowledge of fund accounting principles, financial reporting, and audit processes
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to develop early-career and mid-level talent
  • Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills in complex, high-touch environments
  • Strong operational mindset with experience building scalable processes and improving efficiency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage across all levels of the organization
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with a proactive and entrepreneurial approach
