This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Designer based in Canada.
This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of a growing digital product by creating scalable design foundations that impact every customer interaction.
You will own the evolution of a comprehensive design system, partnering closely with product and engineering teams to deliver consistent, accessible, and high-quality experiences.
The position combines strategic design leadership, hands-on execution, and mentorship within a remote-first product organization.
You will influence how teams collaborate, improve design processes, and connect user experience decisions with measurable business outcomes.
This is an ideal opportunity for a systems-minded designer who enjoys solving complex problems and building frameworks that scale.
You will play a key role in improving product quality while helping a multidisciplinary team move faster with greater alignment.
As a Staff Designer, you will lead the strategy, development, and governance of the design system while helping teams deliver exceptional product experiences. You will act as a bridge between design and engineering, ensuring that product decisions are scalable, consistent, and aligned with customer and business needs.
- Own the design system lifecycle, including components, design tokens, patterns, documentation, governance, and ongoing improvements.
- Partner closely with engineering teams to ensure design concepts are accurately implemented and maintained across the product.
- Contribute directly to front-end implementation by working with production-ready HTML, CSS, and React to reduce gaps between design and delivery.
- Establish and maintain quality standards for interaction design, accessibility, usability, and visual consistency.
- Conduct systematic product audits to identify inconsistencies, usability issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop tools, processes, and frameworks that help teams maintain design quality at scale.
- Mentor designers through structured feedback, coaching, and guidance to strengthen design practices across the organization.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to create shared processes and improve cross-functional efficiency.
- Connect design decisions to measurable business outcomes such as activation, adoption, retention, and revenue growth.
- Support experimentation initiatives by designing, iterating, and optimizing experiences based on user insights and performance data.
The ideal candidate is an experienced product designer with strong systems thinking, technical understanding, and a proven ability to create impactful user experiences at scale. You should be comfortable balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution and collaborating across multiple disciplines.
- 7+ years of professional product design experience, including significant experience in growth, experimentation, or outcome-driven product environments.
- Proven track record of designing, testing, and shipping experiences that improved measurable business or user outcomes.
- Extensive experience building and governing design systems, including component architecture, design tokens, patterns, and documentation.
- Strong understanding of scalable design principles and how individual design decisions influence broader product ecosystems.
- Ability to read and write production-level HTML, CSS, and React, with confidence working closely with engineering teams.
- Experience translating user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints into effective design solutions.
- Strong collaboration skills with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain design decisions clearly and build alignment across teams.
- Experience mentoring designers and providing actionable feedback that improves team capabilities.
- Strong understanding of accessibility, interaction design, and modern product design practices.
- Competitive compensation package:
- Base salary range of CA$140K – CA$196K.
- Additional commission opportunities and bonus eligibility.
- Fully remote work environment across Canada and the U.S.
- Flexible time-off program with up to 6 weeks of vacation.
- Medical, vision, and dental benefits from the first day of employment.
- Enhanced mental health coverage and wellness support.
- Inclusive parental leave benefits.
- Earned wage access and employee financial wellness programs.
- Access to real-time salary market data and professional growth opportunities.
- Supportive culture focused on learning, collaboration, and innovation.
