Investment Specialist - BMO Private Bank Operation

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Investment Specialist - BMO Private Bank Operation based in Canada.

This role provides operational and investment support to business stakeholders and clients within a private banking environment.
You will help implement investment products and services while maintaining strong financial, regulatory, and operational controls.
The position combines transaction processing, stakeholder support, data analysis, issue resolution, and continuous process improvement.
You will work closely with internal teams and external clients to deliver accurate, timely, and effective service.
The role also offers opportunities to contribute to strategic initiatives, system enhancements, new processes, and change management activities.
Success requires strong judgment, analytical thinking, organization, and the ability to work independently in a regulated environment.

Accountabilities
  • Provide operational support and services related to investment products and services, ensuring transactions and activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and within established service levels.

  • Advise business and operational stakeholders on the implementation of solutions, processes, and services while ensuring alignment with regulatory, financial, risk, and operational controls.

  • Respond to routine and non-routine inquiries from internal stakeholders and external clients, providing accurate, consistent, and informed guidance.

  • Monitor service and operational performance, identify issues, investigate root causes, and resolve or escalate matters appropriately.

  • Review, verify, and reconcile information and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established procedures.

  • Analyze operational data and information to identify trends, generate insights, and provide recommendations that support business decisions and process improvements.

  • Support strategic initiatives, change management activities, new products, services, systems, and process enhancements from planning and testing through implementation and ongoing maintenance.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business objectives, maintain effective relationships, and meet service expectations.

  • Contribute to the development of tools, training materials, and improved procedures designed to enhance operational effectiveness and results.

  • Provide guidance and problem-solving support to less experienced team members when required.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of applicable regulatory requirements, operational risks, policies, and controls to protect the integrity of business activities.

  • Exercise sound judgment and manage risk appropriately when making decisions, resolving issues, and carrying out day-to-day responsibilities.

Requirements
  • 3–5 years of relevant professional experience, ideally supported by a post-secondary education in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of relevant technology systems and tools, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong understanding of key investment-related products, services, business processes, and operational controls.

  • Advanced knowledge of the risks and regulatory requirements relevant to the business and investment operations environment.

  • Strong customer service, verbal and written communication, collaboration, teamwork, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple activities, and deliver accurate work within established deadlines and service levels.

  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients.

  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, identify the causes of problems, and determine appropriate solutions within established guidelines.

  • Specialized knowledge acquired through education or professional experience in investment operations, financial services, or a related field.

  • A proactive and creative approach to identifying opportunities for process improvement and developing practical solutions.
